I've heard the Crown Vic / Grand Marquis / Marauder / Town Car vehicles referred to as 'Panthers.'

I've heard Crown Vics referred to as a 'Whale' also.

So is a Marauder a whale?

Curious minds want to know!

Well it does tend to make a splash whenever it appears, and people ogle it and take pictures. Whale sounds good to me.

The Marauder shares the "panther" platform (Ford factory terminology), with Crown Victoria and Mercury Grand Marquis since 1979.

The term whale is applied only to DTR's I do believe, as in "Red whales in the sunset", since they are the slowest. The rest of the Marauders are known as street sharks. I read this somewhere.

Pat, I do believe that is; "Dead whale on beach rotting in sun."

I certainly wouldn't classify the Marauder as a "whale". It certainly doesn't handle like one unless maybe you are thinking of an Orca -- Killer Whale. ;)

I know what you mean. When it comes right down to it, there's still no substitute for cubic inches.... (i.e. size DOES matter ;))
