I recently found out that there's a whiskey distillery in Loudoun County, Virginia (Catoctin Creek), so I joined the mailing list. I got the below announcement, which is for a Friday. However, as the wheels started to turn in my head I wondered whether a CAM meet at the distillery might be interesting. So - post up in the poll.
Remember - when you vote that there will most likely be a fee attached. Also - you are voting whether you'd like to do this in the future.

Nice find! Only 3 hours away, I'll do it if we pick a gathering day with a little more advanced notice.

Depending on the time of the year Paula and I might be in. About 3 1/2 hoursish. When were you thinking this might take place. Late June, early July could work for us. Looked at their web page but see no indication of cost, any idea how much?

I am interested. About 50 miles for me. Attendance depends on the timing of the event. Your poll doesn't indicate "who" has voted.

You are observant, Grasshopper. I didn't want to embarrass people who might have to indicate they can't afford it, thus the voting is hidden.

Not to burst your bubble but I suggest going out to check the distillery out first. I've been there (been on the same mailing list as you since they opened) & I've talked to the husband/wife owners. Very nice folks & great whiskey & gin products
But their situated in a commercial lot, sandwiched between a body shop & heavy machinery. It's not really conducive for a car meetup as their parking lot is pretty tiny.
Anyways like I said not trying to burst your bubble and the distillery is right up the road from me so im definitely down for meeting up if you all go but I definitely recommend going out first and checking the place out. It's tiny and I know they've been looking to expand

Any more thought on this Catoctin Distillery visit? Might be nice to work it in before the 21 July Captain Dan's meet .... otherwise it may get pushed into August. I'd prefer a Saturday; but whatever.

I plan to go over Saturday and ask them (first Saturday I've had free in, well, a while).

They typically do a bottling workshop once a month or so. Maybe we can see if they will let us work the next one.

I have no experience in bottling. All my training has been in the "unbottling" part. ;)

Hah! Actually it's pretty easy they give you a tutorial before you start but really it's one big assembly line. One person pours, one person labels, one person caps, etc..
We can place you as the "supervisor" vitameatavegamin

I did. While we may not be able to park in the parking lot, I think we could park up and down the street. For a Saturday, its deserted. Then we could go into Purcellville for lunch (Magnolia's?). I nered to continue the conversation with the manager Monday to set this up.

Ok yeah but now you are what I meant when I said not an ideal place to park but hey, we'll make it work!
If magnolia at the mill isn't an option I highly suggest Boodacades! Right down the street from Magnolias & the BEST ribs I have ever eaten!
