Have decided to get headers and was wondering if it's really worth the extra money to get them jet coated, or ceramic coated?
I don't plan on taking the car to the track every week, just a daily driver on nice days.
I've seen many people have coated headers, but anyone not have them coated?

The ceramic coating keeps the heat in the exhaust gas where it belongs, rather than heating up your engine bay by radiating off the tubes. Cooler underhood temperatures have many benefits, and theoretically, the slightly hotter exhaust gas should make the cats more effective, hence, lowering emissions slightly.

Keeping the heat in the headers also helps scavenging the exhaust. Plus they will look good for a looooooong time.

Definetly get them jet hot coated! nothing worse than a set of brownie colored SS headers, or even worse rusty mild steel ones!

I have Jet-Hot on the long tubes on two of my Mustangs. I didn't go with ceramic on the Long Tubes on my Marauder as the manufacturer was asking for a small (nee: large ransom). I'm sorry I didn't send them out to Jet-Hot when I recieved them.
The ceramic coating are far superior to non-coated. The engine compartment is really much cooler and the exhaust gases purge faster on the coated tubes.
I'll be pulling the tubes off the MM and sending them to Jet-Hot this winter.

Has anyone ever tried to coat headers themselves?

You would need to clean them, ie. sandblast, coat them (material and equipment) and them bake the coating on (big oven)..... You'll need alot of equipment / expenses for a one time deal.... Send it to someone that can do it for you. Like these guys....

Jet hot coating from KOOKS was $285.00 when I got my headers.
Received my headers as a birthday present so I made sure to have them done! ;)

I'm also getting a set of long tube from stainlessworks and I was considering getting them ceramic coated
now for the noob question is the jet hot coating is a name brand or another process to coat the header?
