After a few PMs about a part# for this pan i thought i would post a thread for anyone interested in this 7quart aluminum oil pan that fits our MARAUDERS like it was made for it, it also works with the stock pick up tube!

Some of the features i really like are the oil return port at the front of the pan for TURBO/CENTRI guys, it also has a oil temp port, next to the magnetic drain plug. Linky http://www.moroso.com/catalog/categorydisplay.asp?catcode=10 555

I ordered the last one from AMOZON, but STREET SIDE AUTO has 3 in stock, moroso has it on back order!

Looks sweet.

Very curious as it costs $400: what is the benefit of the extra quart of oil if you monitor and change your oil on the regular?

Did you test fitted it yet? I know the mustang oil pans won't clear our thick k-member that's why I'm asking..
If it works for you I'm definately ordering one.

If you guys remember i think it was fordnut that used a deep sump pan as well, the aluminum moroso pan fits our cars, the steel does not(at least the one i had didnt)

Ill be installing this pan on my Aluminator so stay tuned and ill post pics of it in my ride.

Thats the beauty of it! only 6.5" from the oil pan rail to the bottom of the pan! thats shorter than the stock pan

I installed it for a friend who swaped motors and wanted more oil capacity after going with the Mellings billet oil pump.

The engine was already out so it was as easy as changing pans, i dont think it can be done with the engine in the car, i do know he shimmed the motor mounts by 1/2" because of the Kooks i think.

So how are you going to install your new pan?

Are you pulling the motor for a new one and installing the pan before the swap??

Or will you be attempting to install your pan with the motor still in place?

Please let us know as this will determine if I will purchase the pan! :help:

Aloha

I bought an Aluminator (which should be here friday) ill install the new pan before i drop the motor into place so it will be an easy R/R

As i stated i dont think the pan can be replaced with the motor in the car it just looks too tight (but i could be wrong).

I had a guy whom works or used to work for aviaid oil pans custom make the oil pan I use on my Marauder. I sent him my stock one & he made me a really nice pan based off the stock pan.
I did use a grinder/sander to shave a hair of AL off of the front cross member just to ensure it wouldn't rub when the motor rocked under acceleration... & it has worked out great.
The pan has all the features listed above plus it uses a integral oil crank scrapper & the the oil control gates around the pickup. This really seems to keep the oil around the pick-up.

drain bolt just spins and will not come out...

LANDY

Does it leak? If it doesn't it might be cheaper and easier to make another drain.

Bobmiddle

no does not leak... but should'nt it have a washer on it.

Black&Gifted

I don't think so. Don't recall my marauder, aviator, navigator or Harley f-150 having a washer on the drain plug.

Oem oil pan drain bolts came with an o ring seal

RacerX

Should be a bolt with a rubber seal built in. You can get the plug out by putting a flat blade under the head and with some light pressure, start turning it out. Maybe the threads closest to the bolt head are stripped. If that's the case, get a new bolt.
