After reading a number of threads, particularly "for sale" threads, I am disgusted as a person from some of the responses I see from people on this forum. As a matter of fact, I'm disgusted by my responses in a particular "for sale" thread. Seeing some of the posts put me in a reactionary mode and for that I apologize. However, I stand behind everything I wrote and am able to back every word of it with objective evidence.

If someone has an issue with it, an issue with me, or an issue with how some go off the deep end in an impolite manner, please post up.

Admittedly, i have not been a member of this forum for very long. However, I have been a person for 35 years, a car enthusiast for 30 years, an owner of performance vehicles for 18 years and an active member of car enthusiast forums for 9 years.

I see the derogatory remarks on many forums. It pisses me off. Now to see it becoming a more frequent occurrence here, where it initially appeared to have an experienced, mature and considerate membership.

There are many good members on this forum. Many have helped me out and I hope to do the same. But the way some of the things are posted here piss me off.

PS: I live in the Woodlands, TX. I work in Houston, TX. I will be happy to meet any one face to face to discuss over a beer/drink of preference.

Well, as far as face to face meetings, I think I'm one of the only ones within a 2 hour drive.

As far as letting our keyboards write words we really shouldn't, while I haven't let go here, I know I've given people both barrels elsewhere when they let emotions write their words. It saddens me to see people get riled up over the for sale posts.

i haven't been a memeber here very long but i do see a lot more welcomes, congratulations and over all attaboys than i do negative comments.

i personally am a smarta$$ and i like being sarcastic, sorry okay i lied not sorry :) i generallydo not make negative comments nor do i take them personally. if you start reading something you don't like simply skip to the next post.

i get a lot of useful information regarding how to fix my car, where to by parts, and what used parts are worth. would you like to see a fellow member over pay thousands of dollars on a car here? well i wouldn't, i believe if a guy is asking an unbelievable amount of money he should be open to critcism.

i for one appreciate the true (non politically correct) opinions i read here.

FYI- if anyone is interested in my marauder let me know. it has the trilogy s/c & jlt cai other than that it is bone stock. it needs paint i will not let you see or drive the car until you hand over hmmm.......$100,000. i think that's a fair number, yeah 100k. oh, 03 black (the best looking color). if you hurry there might be some rubber left on the rears!!

Yeah I know how you feel. We all get like that from time to time. It the end it's only the internet, nothing to take to heart.

I have been slammed by the "best" in private and public and after 10 years on this site all I/you can really do is

If I am ever in your neck of the woods we will hook-up for a drink!

Now on a side note I am planning on meeting up Sunday in lower Maryland with other marauders owners for :bs: burgers, ice cream and :burnout:

That's what makes it all so great!!

The WOW factor!

I have been negative on here in the past, and I do deeply regret most of it. I'm a passionate guy, and I can get passionate about certain things, like cars/engines/tech, etc.

That was a few years ago, and not in a for sale thread but I still do regret it and try not to repeat those mistakes.

There are two people that I made negative comments to that actually deserved it, the rest didn't and I feel bad about it....

Thank you for posting. I agree with a bunch of your post but also have thoughts on it.

Constructive criticism and difference in opinion furthers (and assists in developing) society as well as the fabrics (eg, people) that comprise it. It does make the world go.

I personally hate political correctness because it takes away from the basic essence of being a person. However, i think political correctness should not be confused with giving someone an honest/true opinion (I may have misunderstood your statement so I apologize if so). Those are mutually exclusive concepts. But at the end of the day, who wants "yes" men around them?

Case in point: there were a few members in that thread that offered TRUE and honest constructive criticism about the car owner's asking price. It wasn't derogatory, wasn't challenging the OP's intellect or making fun/putting him or his beautiful 4k mile marauder. Then there was the "mob" that jumped on the guy. On a personal note, I even think the guy was asking a bit much, but it does not impact me in anyway. BUT, to be honest, if someone wants to overpay for a car, even on here (we have all overpaid, and underpaid, for many things in life...I do not look at a car as being any different), it is a learning lesson in life. Value is established by what one person is willing to pay for an item. That said, 99.999% of the members here know what value to associate with marauders/marauder parts. Any one person, even a guest trolling, can go to the next supercharged marauder for sale thread and research whether a trilogy marauder with 4k on it is worth whatever is being asked.

At the end of the day, no reason to be negative if you disagree with a person. Giving criticism is another entire concept.

I crossed the line with my posts and am ashamed I let emotions (both from (1) reading the posts that infuriated me because if how some people conducted themselves, as well as (2) from some very trying personal tragedies that recently occurred) get the better of me.

I'll agree with you, it's the main reason I don't post anything for sale here anymore. It seems everyone has an axe to grind, price too high, price too low, complain about pay pal fees etc., much easier to throw parts I don't need/want in the trash, -0- hassle.

Darren has a good point. He does not sell parts here any longer, he was quite clear why he doesn't. I agree with him.
I get tired of guests who have no vested interest in this forum commenting on F/S
prices. My prices are expensive and I know it. But I am the one putting out the money
and taking a chance on as to the condition of the part when it arrives.
Trust me I have been "had" quite a few times. I don't like it, but what's the point of starting a heated debate over such things. I just toss it. I have tossed at least three
Marauder wheels that were claimed to be in good condition, they were not. One guy
told me, you bought it, you own it. I am now in the process of getting out of the
Marauder parts F/S threads. I only wanted to buy parts for what I need. I have
given away parts to a lot of members. I won't name them because it is not important
and it is not in the sprit of giving.

I would like to get some of the money I have lost, but I don't think that is going to
happen either. So I just may toss the parts. I really don't need two sets of 96 cams
or for that matter even one set. I would have like to have sold them but I have gotten
a lot of flack for the prices I am asking.
There are maybe five of six people here worth giving parts too. Other than that I would
rather dump them in the East River than give them to someone who has shown me nothing but disrespect, or attitude.

I have paid dues from day one on this and the Mustang forums I am on. I put my
money to support the Forums I partiate in. Lets call it like i see it.
Page one of this thread is full of people that have not contributed a dime, except five members,
to this forum. Page two is full of people that have. Many of you are friends
and that is a good thing. I have even sold or bought parts form unpaid members. It matters not really, except when I make a good deal with you
and then you sling mud at me. So be it. NO MORE PARTS FOR SALE FROM
ME. I have already tossed most of the parts and will keep What ever I like.

Have a great day tomorrow. Good luck with your projects.

Totally understand why Darren and yourself are frustrated. At the end of the day I find that one question of ourselves solves most decisions, am I happy?

Sounds like people have taken some of the joy from you and that truly is too bad.

You are a good and positive part of this community, I hope bad apples don't continue to spoil the experience.

[QUOTE=droppointalpha;1176569]Well, as far as face to face meetings, I think I'm one of the only ones within a 2 hour drive.

Naw, there's still quite a few of us on here. I'm in between you two and much closer to Galveston. I'd be more than happy to get together for a beer sometime.

In the 10 years since the cars have been out (YES, it really has been that long since the first ones hit the street), there has been a change in the personality of the board. The original owners of the cars really were one demographic, and now the third, fourth, and greater owners of the cars really are a different demographic.

That's not to say that in the early days there weren't some heated discussions, they just tended to be of a different nature than today.

I agree that there are too many follow-up posts in the for sale sections of the board. Sometimes good, relevant questions are asked, but many times it just ends up being derisive of the OPs asking price.

One idea that exists on one of the motorcycle boards I'm on is this: Only the original poster is allowed to post on the for sale thread. Any questions or comments must be to the OP via personal message.

EMAS
05-03-2012, 11:33 AM
I agree that we should move to a different type of for sale ads where they are locked and people can't comment, just send PM's. I think or at least hope that people would be less likely to PM someone with a "are you #$%@! that is way too high" type comments. Then when the item is sold the OP can edit the post to reflect the sale. That also keeps people from bumping their ads again and again.

Russel, you bought cams that were posted here by NA SVT an occasional seller who likes to give MM.net members a good price and you didn't even need them.

You bought them with the express intent of marking them up and re-selling them here which is taking advantage of BOTH the sellers good nature AND taking advantage of the members of Mercury Marauder dot net. (your friends)

NA SVT will not be selling you anything at any price in the future, so consider that "bridge" permanently burned.

I think that ANY seller who sold you something on the cheap on this site, thinking that you needed it -- then comes back and happens to notice you are selling the same thing a week marked up later would also be upset.

I feel ashamed having to spell this out so you can see the error of your ways, and to everyone else who agreed with you. What comes around goes around. Sad that at your age you haven't learned that lesson yet.

Well, clearly Russell doesn't have a MM, it got stolen. If someone sold something to someone, without expressing that "you can have it for that price if it is for you", then you are SOL as the seller. Once you sell an item, it is the buyers to do as they choose with.

Unfortunately, I have never gotten a smoking deal on any MM part, always paid what it was worth, usually sold for less than I paid or just gave it away, but not anymore, if I can't recoup my $$$, I'll just throw it away. Or shoot them full of holes and then post the part.:D

First you spelled my name wrong.
Second, I have bought things from Todd several times. He has never laid out any rules as to what I am to do with the part after I buy it.

Sir,
Do you do business with a bank, insurance company, stock broker,
mortgage company, wall Street investment company like AIG.
None of these companie, firms, or brokage house are honorable.

I would venture to guess you do business with at least one or more of
these dishonorable companies.

Honor and Business are not Synonymous with each other.
Look at where our great Country is today and tell me about honor

Have a great and profitable day.
