JLT CAI, PHP Upper Air Intake Spacer, Snow Performance Methanol Injection and the best of all, a Lidio tune equals big power! This Ford DOHC of mine screams!!!!! I also have E3 sparks, and Sultans of Spark COPs. I smoke the tires (Nitto 285s) in first and break the rear end loose in 2nd, hard! I'm curious as to what she'll do in the 1/4 all natural, well, at least what I've done to her so far. Next on the list, 4.10 gears, a limited slip rebuild and an updated tune from Lidio. I can't wait!!!!

If you think she's quick now, wait until you get the gears installed! You will have to get the grin on your face surgically removed.

Way back when, my car with 4:10s and a Reinhardt tune went 14.21 @95mph.

I have changed a few things since then! ;-)

There has been some recent discusions on here recently re 4-10 gears or 4-30 gears. Justbob for one. Something to study before you purchase those gears. I also believe nothing you have done so far will make as much noticeable difference as the gear change, just my opinion!

I like my 4.10's a lot. But after driving Justbobs car with 4.30's. I most likely would have chosen the 4.30's now.

Snow performance on an N/A Car? I wonder how much it really helps. I think you should get to the drags!

Congrats on your upgrades! (It's hard to stop..) :)

4.30s and forced induction  doesn't the motor run out of gear when getting on it?

http://www.4lo.com/calc/gearratio.php

with a 28" tire size, 116mph traps at 6000rpm, 126mph traps at 6500 rpm...

I'd say with 28" tires, we could go even higher... 4.56s would even be good; or switching to 26" tires for the track (what I plan on doing). mustang traps 110-111 with 4.30s and 26" tires.

Don't fear the gear!

I was wondering the same thing and googled it.

Nope. But the pucker factor is up. :)

babbage. When the methanol kicks in, my head snaps back. It's a very noticeable difference. Sort of reminds me of a 75 shot of NOS at 3K RPMs. I bought the kit with both N/A and boost capabilities, so when I decide I need PSIs, I'm already equipped and will not have to do anything but reprogram the control module. Slick.

I have my Snow kit start injecting at 1 psi of boost. I am going to install a snow kit on my turbo Buick as well and probably my C6 Corvette which is NA. With the Corvette I hear pinging with 91 octane.

If you tune it just right, you can have anything you want. Like I said, mine kicks in at 3K RPMs and yours kicks in at 1 PSI. I like where my N/A is set!

I have Meth on my race Tune w/ Vortech @19psi 540RWHP. If the Meth does not work my motor will not blow up.
I suggest asking your tuner to tune so that if the meth does not work your motor does not blow up.

Here is a thread on my meth results;

Meth provides no power gain on an n/a car running 93 octane.

Okay Alice... When you cool the incoming air induction, you get more power. This technology goes back to the P-51 Mustangs of WWII. They didn't have "boost" on those fighters, just the water/meth injection. The same principle applies even to N/A vehicles. The cooler air coming into the motor produces more power. As to how much power depends on the application. Hope this helps you understand methanol injection a little better in a N/A setting (not trying to be mean at all).

Alice? I'm speaking from experience. The only reason to use meth is so you can increase the ignition timing, but adding timing to n/a combos does very little in terms of adding power. I've seen guys convert to e85 for the same reason you stated and they gained no significant hp or tq.

BTW, P-51s were powered by either a supercharged Packard, liquid-cooled V-12 or a Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolls-Royce_Merlin) two-stage two-speed supercharged (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger) engine. The reason they added methanol injection was to cool the charge because it temp was raised a great amount after being pressurized.

Alice out!

I went 14.25 @ whatever mph back in the day with a JLT, GMS coil connectors, NGK plugs, non-DR tune, rear cat delete and stock 3.55 gears on 255/55-18s

:P
