Spider crack all across the passenger side :(...
For those of you that have had your MM windshield replaced, anything MM specific I should know? Is our windshield different than a CV or GM?
If so, will the insurance company pay for an exact copy, or do I have to pay extra? (Keep in mind here in FL window replacement is "free"...)
I have Esurance (Allstate).
Thanks,
Jim

i had to replace mine the first week I got it driving home rock came up and busted it then about 3 months later a gravel truck with a unsecured load did the same thing insurance paid for both no cost to me I requested oem ford and that's what I got. Nothing special about the install make sure to use the right sealant adhesive stuff and don't forget the little wedges at the bottom they help center it top to bottom.

I know the windscreen in 300As is Marauder-specific...not sure about '04s...do you have the dot-matrix pattern around the rear-view mirror in addition to the blue sunshading?

The glass is the same but the mount for the mirror is different, and the mount will come with the glass, so make sure they know it's for a Marauder. Also request OEM glass and not the china after market glass.
I actually replaced the windshield in my CVPI, and then tried to mount the MM mirror. Had to glue the MM mount to the CVPI mount to get the mirror on.

Only specific places carry Carelite. Go to Carelite website and do a search.

I have had mine replaced a few times with oem Carlite. It has the dot matrix & top tint. As our car ages my insurance co. said they are no longer required to use Carlite brand & can use lesser quality. I insit & will pay the difference you can see the quality.

Yes I do have the dot matrix. Just wondering if they will spring for an actual MM windshield with the dm pattern, glass co hasn't called yet, claim is still processing.

Not sure what brand I got, but it was installed by a local Safelite and looks identical to the original.

I'm on my second windshield, same thing Bob (RF) said, specify the dot matrix with the "blue" tint band under that. Heck I never even noticed the blue band until Silversurfer pointed mine out in Louisville a few weeks back.

Safelite doesn't use Carlite.

I could not tell you. I was just going by the Ford parts database.

We just had three MM windshields replaced, 2 a few months ago and one a couple weeks ago. Safelight offered both Carlite and a standard glass. The Carlite is more $$. There also is shaded and non-shaded. The blue band across the top is the shaded one. All MM's should have had the shaded one.

The installer told me Safelight was thinking of only going with OEM glass since the cheapies have too many waves in the glass and they are getting more complaints.

Safelight has to purchase the window from a wholesaler so that's why it costs more $$$. They want you to use their glass, but the installer said that in some states they have to tell you that and offer the OEM glass. Regardless of who you have do it, they can get the OEM shaded windshield. Don't let anyone tell you it's not made anymore, that's BS.

If you want Carlite, do what I did. Go to the Carlite website and it allows you to search for sellers in your area that carry them.

I'd be careful with Safelite. The times I was needing windshields, I called Safelite and they said they make thier own brand of windshield and that is all they carry in my area. Then I promptly cancelled and went somewhere else. Safelite isn't listed on the Carelite website as carrying Carlite windshields (at least in my area). Maybe its different in your area.

Yea, I think Safelight has to buy them from the local warehouse, hence the higher price than their own brand glass. The installer mentioned something different about the rear view mirror bracket between 03 and 04. I didn't notice anything. I think the three part numbers may be the non-shaded first, then they went to the shaded, and possibly the change in mirror bracket.

The 12-02-02 is right around the date they went from 300A's to 300B's. Her 300A made in June 02, my first 300B made on 12-12-02. Anythime I would order parts, the parts person would ask about the date and looked it up by VIN.
