"Team Panther" Polo Shirts & Stickers

Bodyman and I are trying to gauge interest in a run of "Team Panther" polo shirts and stickers. For those that don't know/remember, the "Team Panther" logo appeared on the Crown Vic Ford entered in Brock Yates "One Lap of America" in 2005. The Ford Collection did polo shirts (see attached picture), but it was a limited run (probably through long-retired Ned Nuss, who was behind the One Lap entry). Kenny Brown also used the logo on many of the Panther-platform cars he converted (MMs included).

EDIT: There will be nothing on the sleeve - note that the illustration says "Crown Vic" now. This needs to appeal to more than just the MM crowd to get Ford to run it; therefore, no 'Marauder' on the sleeve (but you can add that yourself).

I've emailed The Ford Collection since they did the original shirt, to see if they would do a new production run. Since they already know how to do shirts (and already have the logo), we might be able to order and produce a pre-sold limited production run (and we wouldn't have to front the money). We could pre-sell them before MVX, and make them available to other websites (www.crownvic.net, for example) and they'd get delivered without our undertaking the hassle. The above poll is to gauge interest in some sort of predictable way.

As part of that email, I asked the Ford Collection whether I could produce the shirts myself (assuming I could get a license from Ford to use their logo, and also get original logo artwork). I have no idea how that'll turn out.

EDIT: If The Ford Collection does the shirts, they will be as the picture shows (left sleeve excepted). If done outside, we may have more latitude on color, depending on what the license agreement from Ford dictates.

Finally, I sent a separate email to Steve Babcock to see if he remembers who at Ford has the logo. If he does, I'll go that route try to get the original artwork for stickers and/or polo shirts. Again, I may have to wade through the lawyers at Ford to get a license to reproduce it, but I'm willing to give it a try.

Bodyman is focused on reproducing a reasonable facsimile of the logo for the stickers. I'm interested in the "real thing" for polo shirts, so don't get this mixed up.

So - if you are interested in a polo shirt, indicate accordingly in the above poll. For the time being, presume that polo shirt orders will be placed at The Ford Collection and prepaid in advance of a one-time production run. Also, since you can vote more than once, indicate if you'd buy more than one shirt [for sanity at the poll (there's already 16 options, fer cryin' out loud!), I'm limiting the poll to indicate whether you'd buy a maximum of two shirts].

To add to what Mark stated. I will be doing another run of the vent window "Team Panther" decals. Last time with doing over a 100ct I was out in less then 2 weeks. Ask anyone who has/had one of them they are of good quality vinyl stickers. Cost isnt gonna be that much but wont know for a few days.

I am in for two (2). Would also prefer "MARAUDER" on the sleeve; but that's not a game changer for me. Kinda difficult to picture what one in Black would look like as a background for the logo and the sleeve trim. However, if both colors are offered, I'll take one of each.

I used to have one of the original polos but it's been misplaced. Would be awesome to buy another one! Definitely interested in one in either white or black, doesn't matter.

I also would be interested in the window decals too. Some one was going to make them a year ago or so but never heard anything more about them. But I definitely want those too if they become available.

That would be me on the decals. They will be excatly like the last run. I will start a thread probably around end of next week for them with pricing/amount info.

Today, I successfully reached a representative of The Ford Collection, the original producer of the shirt. Here's what transpired:

1. Ford has agreed to reproduce the shirt. They need to hunt for the logo, and perhaps recreate it. They will send the logo to me so I can show it to you.

2. The shirts will be available in White. And Black.

3. No embroidery on the sleeve. To get Ford to do it, there needs to be enough volume to sell it to Crown Vic owners as well as Marauder owners. Putting one version on it excludes the other group. So, no sleeve embroidery.

4. Orders will be placed directly with The Ford Collection, on their web site.

What has to happen now:

The Ford Collection needs to get back to me with the proposed price. If there is general agreement on price, we'll ask them to produce the shirt.

WHAT I NEED YOU TO DO:

1. Now that you know the shirt will be available in black or white, and with no sleeve embroidery, make sure your vote reflects whether you'll buy it or not (in the poll, your vote is without considering price).

2. Post a reply in this thread with the maximum amount you will pay for the shirt, so I can negotiate with Ford. If you know you'd buy a shirt that costs $45, put in a post. I have no idea (...yet) of the proposed price, but I need some indication to go on.

The way I understand Mark just noted no embroidery on the sleeve. Iam myself am a yes for sure at very least one in each color possibly 1 or 2 more. depending on cost. 35.00 to 40.00 ish??

The Ford Collection will produce the Team Panther shirts in black and white, men's and lady's styles, all sizes. No sleeve embroidery.

Price will be $50 (S - M - L - XL); $60 (XXL - XXXL - XXXXL - XXXXXL).

They need a minimum of 30 orders to do it.

So: If you will buy a shirt at this price, make sure your vote reflects that in the poll above. Don't worry if you plan to buy more than two shirts - just vote for the one you will buy so I can report a "minimum count" to Ford. If you aren't going to buy any at this price, please erase your vote.

I plan to report the numbers to Ford on MONDAY (21st). Then, these shirts can get produced in time for the "Panther Nationals."
