Well my intercooler saga continues! the replacement for the first unit arrived defective obviously a casting defect!
In Precisions defense they did issue a call tag for the defective unit, and shipped another intercooler out overnight, however once back on the dyno we experienced the same problem 11PSI max, at that point i called precision and handed Jeff the phone so he could be the calmer voice of reason, after he explained the we were loosing 12PSI across the intercooler, and made more power with a straight pipe the tech admitted they have switched to a much less efficient core that cant handle high boost (in my case 22PSI) had i known that i never would have bothered with a replacement.
So in the A.M. ill be calling Procharger, and spearco, i would love to snag one of the 6 core beast like Tripple Threat is running on his Purple , but ill also consider a Spearco unit which has identical demensions to the Precision unit which makes for an easy install, ill know which one im going with sometime monday.

Just get a treadstone
Actually this is what I was going to suggest as well...
I have ran those on multiple cars over the years without issues. My last was on a car with 3" in and out making 650whp... Was a DSM but still... Airflow is airflow. That was running 26psi.

Landy your statement is 100% theory, and 0% factual! lets go back to 1992 i built my last of 3 Grandnationals first two had Precision front mounts with 3.5" thick cores, put that same one on the last build, IATs were thru the roof! custom fabbed an intercooler with a 6" thick core, mind you this build had a Precision 88mm ball bearing turbo , IATs never went past 115-125 on the streets, and the car made 1072RWHP, and went 9.32 in the 1/4!

At MO'S dynoing the car , made 660 RWHP on the first pull , then belt slip at the s/c pulley showed up, and I'm thinking stiffer valve springs may be in order.

Got the intercooler mounted (the crash bumper is history) it fits like a glove! dropped off the silicone couplers/straight connectors, Brandon will finish it up Tuesday or so, then its back to the dyno! shouldnt have any issues with boost with this Procharger beast!

The crash bumper offers no structural integrity between the 2 frame rails?

Yes the crash bumper does offer protection , but it wasn't happening with that 6" thick ProCharger intercooler in there.

What I meant was, does the crash bumper help with tying the frame rails together, not just crash protection. Is the complete frame of the car going to lose rigidity due to the removal of the crash bumper? I've had an idea to remove mine for an upgrade I want to do, that's why I'm asking.

IMPRESSIVE!
Belt alignment is critical. One washer makes the difference. At operating temp everything expands and can change the alignment.
Trial and error is the only way to get it true. You need a tech with patience and determination.
The Vortech High Traction S/C pulley is a quality product.
Good Luck.

This is a full frame RWD car, not a Unibody , the crash bumper protects the front of the car if a front impact occurs , it had to go to make room for the intercooler, car is as rigid as ever.

I truly dont know what else to say to you, once again the belt alignment is perfect, we sandblasted the rib surface of the pulley, and cut slots in it, that took care of the slip at the S/C pulley, if it were an alignment issue it would be eating ribs off the belt which its not, and no belt dust what so ever.

As mentioned before 660RWHP was the best we could do once the belt slip issue was addressed, valve float was present above 6500 rpm, so ill install better valve springs, and titanium retainers to sustain higher boost pressure. we set it at 18* of timing, and 640RWHP, my IATs were right around 85-90*

Motown, just read the entire thread. Awesome stuff!
Can't remember if it was mentioned; What was the boost and S/C pulley size on that last pull. I noticed you sold a 2.9" slotted pulley. Did you change pulley size afterwards?
How did you identify valve float? What's next for this formidable beast?

Scary once it runs into mid/upper 20's isn't it?! I'm jealous as hell seeing them rpms in the 7's! I was gonna shut down at 7,300, but that's what I get for gambling on a factory twin disc.. I guess that was a good thing as mine was set up for 28#s on the old owners set up and I would have made even more plus I don't have head studs.. [emoji50]

Honestly I built mines purely to chase numbers! , or break it! Lol , very true on the streets it's a beast , and more power than you need, you find yourself constantly tapping the brakes to avoid running something over.
