What would be better in the 1/4 udp or 410. Also udp are about $225 and easy install. 410 are $150 but $200 to install and I might as well rebuild it that will cost more. So $500 to do the 410 and install the right way?

4.10s will provide you with better performance results then the UDPs would providing you have a 4.10 tune.

How will both work together

They both work together fine.

I'd do the 4.10's first.

You can install the under drives yourself.

Rebuilding the rear-end will cost more than $500 when all is said and done. You have axles, ring gear, rebuilding the trac-lok unit or getting a new one, fluid and then labor for everything.

UDPs should be significantly cheaper, but the 4.10 setup will provide much better results.

You get what you pay for in terms of $$ per HP/performance between these two.

I thought the UDP's and 4.10's complemented each other very well when used together. I had that set up before I supercharged.

Me too. IMO, the gears will give you more bang for the buck.

Other than a S/C or NOS the 410's are the best bang for the buck.
Just my 4.6 cts. worth.:P

parta performance has a complete upgrades 31-spline axles and everything you need plus add the install kit comes out to 780.00 for everything you need to do a full rear end restore plus shipping id say 825 plus fluid 850.00 plus installation so yea bout 1000 is about right

My 4.10 install was $200.00 labor plus parts. I purchased the parts. Only needed the ring & pinion set, fluid, install kit and wheel bearings.

It's been awhile, but I'm thinking mine was around $350-ish for parts and labor (excluding the gears).

There's no need to replace axles at that power level.

Gears, fluids, and replace the worn clutches are all that's needed.

Okay, after reading this thread since it's creation, I'm really confused on what I need/don't need in order to have 410s installed on my MM. Some say all you need is A/B/C and that's it and others say you need A/B/C/D/E and F. My car has 90K and the differential needs to be rebuilt. So far, this is what I'm sure I need to have:

Ford Racing M-4210-C (gears) & Ford Racing M-4700-C (Diff rebuild kit)

Do I also need to get this?

Summit Racing 14-0069 - Summit Racing® Ring and Pinion Gear and Installation Kit Pro Packs

Just trying to figure out all the parts I'll need to get so I can establish a rough 'bottom line' on cost. If all I need are the gears and rebuild kit, then I will be able to have them installed at the end of this month; if I need the additional installation kit, then I'll have to wait until mid-July.

TIA...

if you like the rear end to all get done at once then this is what you need

Ford Spline 31 Axle Shafts $460, 31 Cobra Carrier from Sparta Performance $200, M4210- C Ford Racing Master Gear Install Kit $120, New Ford Racing 4.10 $180, TA Performance girdle & stud kit $200, Ford Racing Friction Modifier $10

Parts cost me $1170 lets just say $1200

labor wise all that installed only cost me $ 360 to get installed with Royal Purple fluid at a high end local mustang shop @Deans Performance:banana:

so about $1550 to get it all done right.

Agreed. Unless you're looking well north of 500 hp the OEM axles are adequate.

also alot of you guys swapped out gears early in the cars life, its 9 years later now and **** has age and miles on it, more stuff will ahve to be replaced then it did when the cars were new. i just had my bronco done (just the rear axle) and it ran me over 900 bucks total. only thing not new are the axles

UDP's are a waste. No matter which blower you end up with, you'll throw them away.
