I just recieved my "new" or 2nd Marauder.
The Marauder has 25,400 miles on it. The rear tires have date code 2 0 0 2 on them. I think that means the tires were made in week 20 of '02. Early May of 2002.
My rear tires on my first Marauder consistantly lasted 20K to 21K miles. These rear tires still have tread before the wear indicators.
Is this likely?

I have about 32K on my current set of OEM BFG rears. Having them replaced before the month is out...going with Coopers this time around as they are a little cheaper than BFGs...put Coopers on the fronts a week ago.
Damn! I only get about 600 miles out of mine!

Gee....I wonder why? :dunno::thinker::hmmm:
No wonder it's always a PITA to find rear tires for MMs....

I did get 33K out of the factory tires, and only 26K out of second set before they dry rotted:mad:
If your tires are 10 years old check for dry rot.

You are correct on reading the tire code 2002 = 20th week of 2002. They are 10 years old. I have gotten right at 21K with every set of rears on my MM -- I am on set #5 now, I think. I have heard some folks get 30-40K on their rears. Don't know how they do it .... guess I am a bit more aggressive on my driving habits.
If your tires are 10 years old check for day rot.
Check for night rot and dry rot too. ;)

20th week of 2002. They were made in middle of May. I would say that they are very hard and/or dry rotted.

I just bought my 4th Marauder, 28k on the clock. The date code on mine were also 02. Tells me this car was not ragged. I drive a little aggressive, but only averaged about 20k on the fronts due to the inside shoulder wear.
I did the carfixer alignment, so we'll see how these new tires were.
I just put a new set of correct size Cooper Tires on my car. They were $683 delivered to MS. Bought them at Discount Tire Direct.com.
These tires have 35# in them and they ride much smoother than the old BFG's. Handle well also. I'm glad I purchased them.
