Its never a bad idea to install a huge aftermarket trans cooler

Yes, you do have a trans cooler. If you are s/c or do road course racing an aftermarket is a good idea and lowered my tranny temps a lot. Too cool is just as bad as too hot so if your temps are ok as is don't worry. An aeroforce gauge plugged into your obd2 port will allow you to monitor tranny temps along with dozens of other functions and is a great investment. Dennis

All modern cars have a tranny cooler installed. Most are part of the radiator so you are cooling thr tranny fluid with hot water. the MM has a separate cooler located in front of the radiator. I added an aftermarket cooler in series with the factory cooler. Heat is the main killer of trannies.

The OEM trans cooler has the PS cooler integrated and is more than adequate for anything except road racing.
Some disconnected the OEM Trans cooler and left it in place while installing an oversize Trans Cooler that raised coolant temps with out benefitting the trans.
The killer of trans is bad fluid. The higher the temps the shorter the fluid life. If your trans runs higher temps increase your fluid changes is preferable to frying your engine with higher coolant temps.
I have 540RWHP and over 50 passes with 60K miles on the same trans and prior I had 450RWHP and over 100 passes with 50K miles on the same trans.
I removed the OEM trans cooler and replaced with an 8"X10" aftermarket trans cooler mounted behind the front grill.

That is why I added my cooler in series with the factory cooler.
Fluid goes thru the factory cooler then into the aftermarket cooler mounted in front of the A/C condenser, then back to the tranny.

The factory cooler has a thermostatically-controlled bypass, so it won't overcool the fluid in cold weather.

OEM, as-shipped from the assembly plant.
Top - transmission / Bottom - power steering.
Positioned between the radiator and the A/C condensor.

I thought I did a good thing by pulling my factory cooler and installing a bigger aftermarket one. Then come winter my trans fluid barely hit 140°. I had to install a aftermarket 180° thermostat just to get it to go to temp. Now even in summer my trans fluid never goes over 190° even when I'm dogging it. I also installed a small cooler to replace the factory PS cooler that is shown in the pic gdmjoe posted.

I think money can be better spent else where.

I guess your saying that if you are N/A then the factory cooler is good enough and not necessary to put an aftermarket cooler in series with the factory cooler. I only do normal city and highway driving.
