All,

My drivers seat motor for moving the back of the seat is getting really lethargic and a bit noisy. I'm thinking it's about to shuffle off this mortal coil, and I want to get it changed before it fails.

Has anybody done this job that can advise on the difficulty? Where is the motor mounted? I can buy one online for about $160. I'll take advice on that as well.

The other issue I have is the mirror joystick has failed. What car uses the same part? I can buy that as well but a junk yard find is good also, as long as I know what car uses the same one.

Thanks folks!

Simon.

Unbolt the seat and you'll see the motor(s).

Before you replace anything I'd clean up the gears and tracks, lube them and try it. Not very common for the motor(s) to go bad.

I believe a CV or GM of the same vintage will have the same mirror joystick.

Thanks for that Fastblack!

I'll pull out the seat first.

I have a complete driver side ( and passenger) seat assembly, i.e., frame, motors, tracks, air bag etc, everything minus the cushion & seat cover if your interested, pulled from a 7k mile car.

Your not going to shoot it up? :D

It's a frame with the motor assembly & air bag, no seat skin or cushions, I guess I could. Since someone asked, I thought I would offer.

I hate to ask a stupid question. What does "you're not going to shoot it up" mean?

Referring to a post made by Spectragod saying he'd rather shootup his parts than sell or give them away.....

A-ha! Makes sense. We need parts horders. Don't change! A 7K mile car! Must have been totalled. Did the owner try to go round a corner too fast and swap ends?

That quote was made when I said I would rather throw parts away than to list them in the F.S. section, and you volunteered to take my free parts..... that I never offered to you. Hence, the comment about shooting holes in them before I gave them to you.

The car became a race car, seats and the rest of the interior were pulled.

And in the next post I offered to pay you for the parts.

I never expect anything for nothing!

In no particular order.

Uhmmm, ok. I remember when I had a stack of the trunk plates that I was giving away, you PM'd me saying that you wanted all of them. Since I wasn't "selling" them, how would that have worked out, being as how you wanted nothing for nothing?

I'm just curious, because you were the only one that asked for multiple sets, and others that had more than 1 MM only asked for 1 set.
