View Full Version : Seat Belt Improvement?
Several people have commented that our driver's seats don't hold us in as steadily as they might under high speed turns. Anybody ever heard of this device, or anything like it for added stability?

I am disappointed with my belt tension, and this looks like something to be strongly considered. I am cautious of a "first run" product to some degree, but it's not a lot of money for the right fix. Thanks, Ross!

Thomas Potter did a seat belt mod last year?
Do a search?
See if that will help out.
I for one stay put in my driver seat. But then again that's just me:)

Thanks Ross. I think I'll have to get this. I was amazed that as large as I am I could still rattle around in the seat during hard driving.

Yup, I remember that. It called for adding a single tensioned lap belt to the assembly in place. It was interesting to me, but I admit I did not follow up on the idea. Meanwhile, a little guy like me just sweeps around in the sweeps. These MM front seats redefine "generous."

But you would too, BDJ. You're the only guy I know who does not get out of a MM.
You take it off...

Our belts are designed to allow freedom of movement, but lock up when required, and tension up. They certainly aren't performance belts as such, but supposed to make the average driver/occupant happy about wearing seatbelts and not feeling too confined by them.

Hate to disagree with you here Mac, but I think in Jim's case, it's all about gravity. A whole lot of gravity! ;) :D

I ordered one of these things. Hopefully it will be here next week and I can report on how it works.
OK, I ordered one of these things last week, and got an email confirmation that it was shipped. Haven't received it yet. Tried to get into their website today to get a number to call to check on the shipment. Website wouldn't open. Maybe they took my 39 bucks and ran off to Tiajuana... :(
All right, this is looking worse all the time. I found last week's email where they emailed my order confirmation to me. I emailed back to them to check on the order, and I got a return "undeliverable" message. I checked some online Yellow Pages for their company in the NJ town where they supposedly are located, and got nothing back. Hmmmm, they say there's a sucker born every minute...

hey BDJ, It is tough being abused by these size challenged people. I bet they need a booster chair with a 3 point harness at the barber shop. Funny, I don't move around much either, and I don't need a dead pedal, my feet reach the floor just fine
Thanks, Gonzo, my bad. I meant to say DE, not NJ. Once I get out of the Republic, my geography gets all messed up! I did check the company for a DE listing and found no phone numbers. That, plus the website not working, and the email coming back seems to spell trouble.

The web site loads for me today
I'm leery of things like this that "add" to the OEM system. The OEM system is designed to work a certain way, and has undergone extensive testing and gained Government approvals. Something like this could be a detriment to it's functioning.
Maybe i missed it on the web site but I don't see anywhere an approval for this device by an agency like NHTSA etc
I think I'd rather replace whole belt system with a different belt set up than add a "gizmo" like this.
OK, I finally got my kit. Guess what? It has a diagram of "single Loop" and "double Loop" seat belts, describing how the belt fits through the buckle. MM's have a "double loop." The instructions say not to use the system with a double loop, to return the kit for a refund!

It is a shame that they did not tell you this before you ordered it. it would have saved a whole lot of time.

Perhaps you can trade it in on one of those Tornado thingies. . . [ducks]
