View Full Version : How big is your PIPE?
Right now I'm running KOOKS headers and full 2.5 inch mandrel bent pipe all the way back to Meg's 4 inch tips!

My question is this. At what point is 2.5 inch not enough and 3 inch is required? As far as back pressure and restriction.
When should 3 inch pipe be used as far as RWHP?

Brian Jones told me that you want 1" per 100 RWHP. You are perfect where you are at 505. Brian is the one who did mine and used to work for Grand Muffler here in Atlanta. He also is the one who did Jerry Barnes car.
Hope this helps Bro!

Thought the same thing, only thing i could think is that they mean 1" per side? That would equal 5, which would be right at 505 RWHP. Just a guess though

You are correct. You add both sides together.

About .5" :D
Its more preference, engines do need a little bit of back pressure so it would a waste doing 3" on a NA car. It may even rob power then make. I'm running Stainless works LT headers into 3" collectors into a 2.5" custom H pipe into the stock axle overs out of 4" tips.

yea i guess it must be for total exhaust, 505=5" divided by 2 for driver and passenger side exhaust would give you 2.5" per side. so if thats correct unless you plan on breaking 600RWHP stay with 2.5".........or if your anywhere from 550-599 go with 2.75"????

For what I am going for over the next 12 months, the 3" I just had installed will put me right in line. :D
