Welcome, welcome, welcome! You'll love it here...seems you like it quite a bit already. Glad you've got an MM to with that...I've decided to not get one for a while...it wouldn't last through college for anything. If you search through threads looking for answers and can't find anything, I might be of some use, and I love to feel smart so don't hesitate to PM me. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!!:D -James

Well, lessee. There's Virgil in Jasper with a Triology S/C in his MM. Now blacksnake with a Kenny Brown S, no less. I guess I better get with it or I'm gonna be the only MM in town without a blower!
Down side is, my goal of being the 1st one in Bham is shot to ricers.:(
Up side is, keeping my eyes peeled for a gen-u-ine KB Marauder!

Look forward to 'running into you' around town Donny. The Magic City is too small for us not to pass. For some reason my foot has gotten a lot heavier than it used to be!

Welcome, check out the "Southern Marauders" in the forum section. Maybe you can drive up for breakfast on 2/21 and meet about 10 -15 other Marauder owners. Lots of Marauder knowledge and you can look and feel the mods on their cars.

I am curious about several things, non of which are particularly my business
First, did you buy your car in Birmingham? If so, which dealer?
If not, did you buy your MM directly from Kenny Brown?
Did you drive your car up for the conversion? How long did it take? The conversion, I mean...
How did you find out about KB? On here?
Have you come across other MM owners, and do they recognise you have a KB S model Marauder?
Have you had it in to a dealer (or your selling dealer) and how did that go?
Nosy peckerwood, aint I?:pimp:

Happy to explain. I started my process 7 or 8 months ago. I was attracted to the MM and drove a used one (3k) at Vulcan L/M. I got on the net and read every article/review I could find. Most critics panned it for a lack of power due to its weight. I lost interest at that point.
Some months later I happened to catch the tail end of a review on Speed Channel that mentioned the Marauder and Kenny Brown's mod's. I missed the details but then went on line and found KB's site. From there I tracked every article/review of modified MM's and immediately fell in love. I then talked to David Frey at KB who was nice enough to point me toward some customers. I talked to (e-mailed) a couple and I quizzed them at length about likes/dislikes, driveability, maintenance, repairs, etc. That pretty much made up my mind.
Next step was to find a car. David Frey pointed me to a local (Indianapolis) dealer who he worked with frequently but I decided to hunt on my own. In order to have any hope of affording this car + KB's mod's I had to find the best deal I could. That meant I had to be willing to travel a significant distance. Since the car had to eventually get to Indianapolis I started identifying dealers within 300 miles of Indy. I looked up the typical dealer invoice, etc on Edmunds and then I started watching e-bay since quite a few dealers were listing MM's there. They were listing them but nobody was meeting their reserve so they would just recycle the listing. Over several weeks this gave me a clear picture of what dealers were asking and also what 'bidders' were really willing to pay. There was a big gap. I never saw one actually get sold on e-bay over several months. No way I was going to buy a car on e-bay but I did contact several of the dealers and asked them if they wanted to bargain with me direct.
Meanwhile '03 was drawing to an end, the '04's were heading out to the dealers and I figured I could find a bargain as the dealers got antsy with 'old' '03's sitting on the lot. Turns out the local (Indianapolis) dealer David Frey pointed me to in the beginning agreed to work with several of the dealers I had identified as potential sellers. I had my target price, what I was willing to pay for shipping, etc. This guy made it happen with no hassles and I am positive he didn't make any money on the deal himself. He also had his people and the KB guys check the car out from top to bottom before I finalized the deal.
So I bought my MM sight-unseen from a dealer north of Indy and it went straight to Kenny Brown. The conversion took 5 weeks because of the holidays. When it was ready I bought the cheapest one-way ticket I could find to Indy, picked it up, and drove it home (7 or so hours).
I have not run across another MM here in town although I hear they are around. No, no one really knows what I have until I show them, except gearheads who recognize the s/c whine immediately. Actually, I don't want the attention. That's why I don't have the KB insignia on the exterior.
As far as the dealer goes, I would only take it to a local one if there was a warranty issue (on something KB didn't modify). I have a great local mechanic (Norm Rutland at Auto and Truck Service, downtown) and he is going to handle all maintenance (routine and otherwise).
As far as this site goes - I didn't find it until after I had the car. Wish I had though, it would have saved a lot of time in educating myself!
Sorry for the long story - but you asked!
