Was out with a friend last night, and we ran across this '96 Impala SS for sale in Dark Green Grey Metallic. Not one to pass up a great photo op, I parked the Marauder next to it and snapped some photos.

First off, notice how much taller the Marauder is. The Impala is stock, except for having the wrong size tires on it (215 v. 255).

The Marauder has much more flash to it as well...bigger exhaust tips, bigger, flashier wheels...

This being a '96 is the only year of Impala SS I'd ever purchase and that's because of the floor shifter and the analog speedometer and tachometer. However, for as much respect as I have for the Impala SS's, the Marauder is still by far the better car IMO because it's interior is just so much better built and better looking than the Impalas. I really don't like any of the interiors in the last generation B/D bodies, except for the 1991-93 Roadmasters. They seemed so cheap and so boring.

Pretty cool pictures. I would love to add a Dark Cherry Impala next to my DTR.

Rock that Fleetwood with a supercharger and other goodies and you got the ultimate badass sleeper

There used to be an Impala SS in that same teal grey color near where I live. I like that color a lot and if I ever got one it would be that color.

Thanks for the pics.

The GM full size cars went really big during the 90's! This was refreshing after the shrinking during the 80's. It was the last hurrah before the end. Always liked the Impala SS, wish I could have afforded one when new.

Lookie what I parked next to at the local cruise-in last Saturday night.

A 1964 Marauder with a factory 427.

I told him I'd like first dibs if he ever decides he'd like to sell it...

I bet that car is a handful to drive!

Very nice! 425hp??

I ran into a '64 Monterey Marauder Hardtop Sedan at a car show a couple of weeks ago. Don't think it was a 427 (I can't identify Ford engines yet), but it was nice.

Nice!

Yup, the gold one is at least 425 hp, has had some work done to it.

The 94-96 Fleetwood Brougham has always been a favorite car of mine, but after sitting in that one, comparing it to the Marauder.....I'm glad I own the Marauder, not the Fleetwood..

I drove those Imps when there were still in service at work. They went great straight! But sucked in the twisties. Damn things were a whale...

So, the Marauder is clearly a better handling car? I'd assume so, but I haven't driven a B-Body, other than a friend's 96 Roadmaster Limited sedan, in years. The RML was a whale compared to the Marauder. Kinda like comparing a Chris Craft to the Cutty Sark.
