I'm going to go with R1 rotors as I've been reading good reports on them. Just want a better than stock stop and the rotors are for looks mainly. I read napa ceramics were good but which ones. They make several. I'd even go with some of R1's pads but which one. Stopping power and low brake dust would be great. Hopefully little to no squeaking as well. Thanks in advance

Thought I read something about hawks and glazing. Which it wouldn't matter because I just cruise mainly so no really hard braking

I have run Hawks for years (SHO prior to current ride) on track and street ... never had an issue with glazing.

I guess I'll find out on my own. It's going to be hawks or NAPA's

Going to order my R1 Concept rotors, and I guess some Hawk HPS pads. Have anyone tried the EBC Green/Red stuff pads?

I've used R1's cheap azz pads for almost four years now without issues. No dust issues either.

I had hawk hps pads on my CV and hated them, they squealed like crazy for me if you just did city driving, seemed to glaze over. Have Napa ceramix now and love them.

I would be tempted to use Ford semi-metallic. I believe more aggressive pads will tend to warp the hopelessly undersized factory rotors. At least that has been my experience.

Aftermarket is not always better, especially when it is the same dimensions as stock.

I can say that I beat on my brakes pretty hard and in 8 months of my current setup, R1 drilled & slotted with Napa Ceramix that I have no warping what so ever. I had this same setup on my 01 CV for 3 years and no warping with them either, with more than a few hard stops from high speeds, and stuff to cook the brakes and rotors.

Well I ordered Premium Dimpled and slotted rotors from here:
Upgraded to Premium Semi-metallic pads as well. I'll see how it works out.

Lifetime warranty against warping

You guys should read these warranties a bit....

Limited to one pair exchange. You're totally on the hook for all shipping, there and back. They can call into question the installation and use of the part. No track use. Etc etc.

The warranty seems impressive until you realize that IF you get them to pony up a replacement set of rotors you'll be down your car while you do the exchange, pay shipping there and back and be subject to their review of both your work and use of the product. If after all that..you get another set; it only because they're inexpensive enough to replace under the conditions. The cost of imported blanks for machining purposes is stupid cheap.

Not saying there's anything wrong with the product, the company or the offering of a warranty like that but the reality is they know few folks would/could ever really take them to task on it. By the time you go through all the hassles to work it out; you'll just buy another brand.

Nobody in their right mind is truly going to offer a lifetime warranty against "warping" and expect to support that.

Granted...just my .02 on the issue.

Agreed, warranties like this (tire warranties are another good example) are close to useless and are merely a gimick.

I have always preferred a quality product over a "warranty" where they'll fight you tooth and nail if you ever try to collect, or make it not economic to even bother.
