I've got a 2004 MM, stock, and the battery gave out. It went into some kind of mode where the relays chattered due to low battery voltage. I replaced the battery, and now the car will crank, but not start. All the lights and accessories work, however.
I notice that when I turn the key into the Run position, I do not hear the fuel pump at all, as I do on my other MM's. All fuses appear to be good, based on visual inspection.
Has anyone had this happen? Did the PATS codes get erased? Is there an easy way to troubleshoot this?
Thanks for your help!

Try resetting the fuel shutoff located in the trunk on the left side near the hinge.

I did look at the fuel pump shutoff switch, I should have mentioned that. The pushbutton was in the down position, the same as my other car. Is there a way to cycle it?

Yes. Give it a good smack until the button pops out, and then push it back in.

Check the fuses, when you try to crank a car with a flat battery the current through all active circuits increases exponentially and may blow a fuse. Pats can be checked through the led on top of the dash. Take the pos terminal off for 5 mins and reconnect. Just some pointers. Let us know how you fare..

Well, so I leave the car on the battery tender overnight, put in the key this morning and it fired right up. I didn't change or reset anything. Any experts have a good explanation for that?
Is there some kind of undocumented timer that kicks in after a power interrruption as part of an antitheft system?
I sure didn't see anything like that in the 204 CV service manual.

Maybe the new battery needed the initial charge before installing.
