Damn Mark ... sorry to hear about this. :( Hope you are doing better now. Do me a favor and stay off ladders and the roof. :P
The punctured lung doesn't sound good. Even if it was only a little bit. Did you have to go in for a re-inflation? I had a lung collapse on me when I was about 22 years old and all the air escaped into the chest cavity. Had to be punctured to relieve the pressure and reinflate the lung. It happened again 6 months later (Spontaneous Pneumothorax in doctor talk). They fixed that one permanently and no reoccurrence since then. I'll show you the scar someday .... looks like I was on the bad side of a broadsword attack. ;)

Now I read this post after doing some yard work myself, with a gas hedge trimmer no less. But I came out unscathed this time at least. Hurry up and get better!

Punctured a lung "JUST A LITTLE BIT". Isn't that like being a little bit pregnant?
Hope the recovery is quick.

Dang!
I need to show this to my wife, it's very obvious to me that yard work is hazardous. Better off just sitting outside, sipping on a cool one, MUCH safer, if you ask me... ;)
Get yourself healed up soon, bubba.

Mine went to 95% collapse. :( When the doctors checked my X-Ray, there was a flurry of activity and I was in the OR pretty fast.
There must be a point where the lung can reseal/repair itself to prevent more air from escaping into the chest cavity. If the "hole" is too large, other measures are required. Its probably the difference between a small leak and a blowout. Looks like you may have a small leak that will repair itself in time and the air that escaped will eventually be absorbed by the body. Let's hope that is the case. :)
