I know it's been discussed a zillion times, but it still never ceases to amaze me when you experience it first hand.

The following ad I found in one of those automart mags, this ad was posted by a L/M dealership in Detroit of all places.

I don't know about you all, but I'm ordering a Sable with the 'Marauder package' tomorrow!

Beeeewitchin !.

I'm going to call up & ask ...

1) How much just for the Marauder "package" itself including shipping ?.

2) Can the "package" be self-installed on a 97 TC ... or will I null & void the warranty by not having it installed at a licensed dealer ?.

:stupid:

Probably because that's what it is titled as.

I bought mine used just before Christmas (now it feels like Christmas morning every morning :D), and the original title didn't even have a model on it - it was just a 2003 Mercury.

The L/M dealer wrote the invoice up with as a "GMARQ SD C" model, whatever the "SD C" stands for. I guess Kansas finally got caught up with the new model since the new title states "MARAUDR" in the model field (athough I had to bring it up specifically at the DMV).

Oh well, a good VIN is probably whats really important.

Almost two years since the start of Marauder production certain dealers still don't know jack about them. :(

What does "triple black" mean on a car that isn't a convertible?

Well the Grand Marquis order guide does not show a "Marauder" package. So that might be confusing for them

This all just goes to the whole model-unawareness that a lot of people have.

I got my car flat-bedded to the dealership recently and the roadside assistance people sent the order to the towing company. I noted on the paper I signed that I have a "2004 Mercury Mirata". Heh.

With my lack of an accent, down heyah in Alerbamer, a coworka once thought I had a Miata. He needed a ride home one day, looked all ova the pahkin' lot for a Mazder. Once again, lack of advertizing. I think I've shown the commercial more than TV did.

I wondered why everyone keeps looking at " my package" Seriously, though, my title shows car as "Mercury Marquis".

It's bad when a Mercury dealer doesn't know too much about it. I didn't really mind when I asked the sales manager at the Ford dealer I work for about one and possibly dealer trading to get me one and he didn't know too much about it. The kicker is when I looked up the lumbar assy for my OWN Marauder and have to spend way too much time to do it ,that is sad. Much of this car is not cataloged right. The Ford Catalog Assistance center doesn't know jack either. I guess that's why the car is special to us. We do know all about it. :D

p.s. According to the catalogs I can find nothing different between our front brakes and suspension that would not allow us to fit CV 16" front wheels.:depress:

I don't know about any similaritys or differences, but I can assure you the 16" wheels fit...I ran them with snow tires all last winter. Many snowbirds are running them as we speak.

I don't have it at hand but i think there are differences, even though the 16" steel wheels will fit.

Rear rotors are certainly different

I usually hear "a Marauder, what's that.....an SUV?" No, it's a big @$$ black Mercury. It's a Grand Marquis......WITH AN ATTITUDE!! :uzi:

I would describe the Marauder package as the invite for police to follow you around trying to figure out whether or not to play with you or not. So far I haven't had any takers. :P
