So, this is my first attempt at showing a car. I've been to lots of car shows over the years and have a good idea of what is required to be a spectator, but I have no idea how to prepare to put a car on display. So beyond the obvious preparation of the car (mine is a recently acquired 03 300A with 33k miles), I am curious what I should pack for the weekend.

I'm not trying to win any trophies or anything. I've found a low-mileage car that is in reasonably good shape, but it has endured a few winters (and probably a few summers) exposed to PA and NY weather. She's nit perfect by any means, but nice enough to put on display (I am guessing/hoping).

Here's my draft list:

1) Folding chairs
2) Basic cleaning materials (rags, paper towels, Windex, detailing mist, etc)
3) Suncreen & hats
4) Cooler
5) Misc Marauder stuff (certificate, owners manual, sales brochure, etc)
6) ?????

So what am I missing???

The main Carlisle show is people's choice unless they changed it this year. We do our own in-voting award ceremony so you still are in the running if the Carlisle judges don't see things your way. Depending on the weather I would suggest sun screen and very comfortable shoes. You'll be doing a lot of walking taking in the sights and all the cars and it can get pretty hot and humid out on the grass. Also I would suggest a folding chair so you can sit under the tent and bring cash. There are hundreds of vendors of cleaning products and ford related items. We are doing a member sponsored BBQ so any food items like hotdogs, condiments, soda or buns are greatly appreciated.

So what am I missing???

The "Absorber" or a chamois (it will probably rain if past history is an indicator)
"California Duster" (it will get dusty in some areas when it dries out)
Microfiber towels
Tire Shine (brand of your choice)
Turtle Wax ICE spray detailer (I have used this for more than 6 years and am quite happy with it).
Small paint brushes (e.g. 2", 1" and 1/2") (to get the cracks, crevices, and hard to reach spots in the engine compartment and dashboard)

Don't forget the camera !!!

I carry a 50' section of hose, nozzle, universal 4-way faucet key and a wash bucket just in case a quick wash is absolutely necessary if you encounter rain/road spray enroute. :D

So what am I missing??? Welcome to Marauders at Carlisle!! It will be great to have you join us. Many of us do not consider our cars to be Show Cars, but we all enjoy showing off our "pride & joy." Just plan on having a really good time with some of the best people you'll ever meet. You will feel right at home.

Bring some hotdogs or hamburgers for the grill (provided), some cold drinks/ice and maybe some snacks to share. There will be plenty of food. You mentioned folding chairs already, so you are all set. See you there!

Yeah maybe keeping the rubber on the tires while on the fairgrounds would be a good idea.
Parking lots are open game. ;)

Thanks everyone for the great advice. I've started packing and have most of the recommendations. I'll bring some burgers or dogs and something to share for the BBQ.

I've read the stories and seen the pics from previous events at Carlisle, Louisville and the MV events. I'm looking forward to this as it seems like y'all always have a great time. I think I've even seen a video or pics of Doom's burnout last year.:banana2:

I suspect this is gonna be a very good time! Looking forward to meeting the various characters of this group this weekend.

Thanks,
Matt

If they stop you at the Gate and won't let you in this year, give me a call and I'll run down to get you in one of those "escort" Gators. ;)
