View Full Version : Car won't start. Cranks but won't fire.

Was sitting in it earlier listening to some music when my radio turned off randomly. All the warning lights on the dash lit up, the temperature gauge went WAAAAY off the charts, and eventually I turned it off. Waited about an hour, put some coolant in it, still won't start. All the electronics are VERY weak, took about 40 seconds to get the window to roll up. Makes an odd CLICKING type noise when I try to go anything involved with the electronics. Thought maybe it was the battery, so got a jump and it still won't start. It just cranks and cranks but will never fire. Fuel pump possibly?
Was it running and overheated? Either way, sounds like a dead battery.

Was it runing when all that started or just the ignition on? Sounds like the battery is beyond jumpable.

Battery is less than a year old. Bought it new. It spins the car over, just won't actually start.

If you turn the key on, do you hear the fuel pump cycle? Also what is the red light on top of the dash doing? If its blinking then it's a PATS issue and try using your spare key.

Mine was a year and a half old when it lost a cell. Anyways, does it crank at normal speed I take it? Was it running when you were listening to the radio for an hour? If so, did it overheat??

Cranks at normal speed, fuel pump seems to be okay. When I turn the key on, all the dash lights are super dim, and the red light DOES blink. But I think my spare key was programmed incorrectly, seeing as it wouldn't start the car from the day I bought it.

Have you checked the fuel pump cutoff switch in the trunk?

I had an issue where it would crank and not start, with the key off all the dash lights would slowly come on, it was caused by corrosion in splices under the dash and in the cowl area, I'm thinking more the one in the cowl area bc it only happened when it rained, until, finally it wouldn't start at all

It's making an insane clicking noise underneath the dash whenever it tries to light something up. First thing being checked tomorrow is the remote start. Gotta start somewhere.
Edit: And this is two days after the 18" Saleen replica wheels/tires I ordered came in the mail.:(

Yeah it sounds like a short of some kind, like the wire or splice is arching
