Does anybody know the driving cycles that has to be done to set the monitors for emissions testing? I took my car to the emissions station twice and they said its not ready for testing I have to drive it on the highway for at least 100 miles.

Every state is different. It's usually a combination of starts, stops and distance, aka "a cycle".

Have to throw in a few speed runs as well, thats why they said highway.

Do you have a tune or have recently disconnected the battery, and how long have you driving it before taking it in?

Don't have the procedure memorized but if you google p1000 code drive cycle, it will come up. It is based on driving at different speeds for set period of time.

I just drove 170 miles on 95 and took it straight to the station and they said its still not ready. I took it back to the shop that put my new computer in and they told me its nothing I can do to get the monitors ready besides driving it. But another guy at a different emissions station told me he could fix it for about 400 bucks. So then I asked him is the shop that put my new computer in and reprogrammed it just telling me its nothing I can do but drive it is wrong, that they can fix it?? Or does this other guy just want money?

First step is to get a scan tool that reads the monitors and see which if any have run.

If none have run then you have bigger issues like a computer with a tune that has them shut off.

Here is the accelerated drive cycle. http://www.obdii.com/drivecycleford.html

Knowing which of the monitors hasn't run perform those portions of the drive cycle though the engine needs to be up to normal operating temp for most of them, so if you've got a defective or really low temp thermostat a number of them won't run.

Well the thermostat might be the problem because I don't even have my thermostat in. And the monitors not set yet are the O2 sensor and catalyst..

I'm surprised you don't have more that didn't run w/o a thermostat. Put a thermostat in and the computer will run the O2 sensors and since it uses the O2 sensors to check the cats that should run too.

Why did you remove the thermostat in the first place? If the OBD-II system isn't in closed loop, the engine runs on a fixed tune and doesn't reference the O2 sensors at all.

Keep in mind that to keep the cats happy and healthy they need the computer to enter closed loop to give them exhaust that comes from a mixture that alternates between slightly rich and slightly lean. So it would not be unusual for a catalyst efficiency code to pop up due to them not receiving the proper feeding long term.

I removed my thermostat last year when I was having overheating problems. When I removed it no more overheating..

...and now you have overcooling. Put one back in. Factory temp is 188°

No, the computer for emissions is set to 3 different stages of driving. 0-20mph, 21-40mph and 41+ there has to be atleast 20miles of each stage driven.
