Hey folks, I had mentioned earlier that I would look into getting a team established for this event. The website (www.planepull.com (http://www.planepull.com)) is currently down but I sent a note to a contact. This is what she replied:


Hi Ryan,


Thank you so much for reaching out! I am so excited that you are interested in the Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull. It is such a fun event and it does SO much good for Special Olympics athletes in the state of VA!

All teams must have each member (the target number is 25 people per team) register on this site so the event waiver can be signed. What we ask is that the team captain (the person that is designated for us to communicate with, possibly you?) to go in first, register themselves and during that process chose the option to create a team. After your team is created, the team captain can let the other team members know the name so when they register they can join the correct team. If you or anyone needs assistance with this, my colleague Veronica Jennings (who is copied on this email) and I work very closely with the teams, so just reach out!

Each team has 25 members on it and the minimum donation to participate is $1250. That can be paid for via a company donation, though fundraising done by your team members or both! More information can be found on the event site, www.planepull.com (http://www.planepull.com). The site is currently under construction but there is still some basic info available. Keep an eye of in the coming months for a really awesome new site.

So right now, I'm just testing the waters and see who would be interested? this is for the Plane Pull event only, not the car show. I will get that information circulated once I get the information

I am going to need at least 25 people to pull the plane and we will need to raise at least $1250 (this equates to about $50 per person). it benefits a great cause and I am sure it's something you can set up at work or online or something.

Anyways, don't need a yes/no but something to think about. I'm going to get our Mercury Marauder.net team set up online in the next couple of days and I will provide the link to register.

Any questions or concerns, let me know and i can either answer or find out for you!

If this wasn't the weekend immediately following MVX, I'd be very interested...never had the opportunity to pull a plane before and raising money for Special Olympics is a great cause. I'll gladly make a donation towards the team fee of $1250....$1 per person, or $25 total, whichever is easier.

Oh dang i didn't realize MVX was week before. I am not going so it's completely off my radar. No worries i will still keep you and everyone else up to date. Hopefully we can still get a good group for the car show on the tarmac

If you are interested in joining the team (i.e. you want to PULL THE PLANE) please click http://www.firstgiving.com/sova/2012dullesdayfestivalandplanep ull and click on the GREEN REGISTER button at the top! You will then register yourself. Fill out the info and click Join A Team. Search for MercuryMarauder.net and voila! :banana:

Hope to get a lot of participants from this site. My target number is 25 people) I don't think there's an age limit so if kids want to help pull, great! Once I get more info about the car show, I will post that as well.

I just received another email from the Plane Pull committee. See below. We get get custom t-shirts with our logo. I have some ideas for putting the Marauder on the shirt but i don't have any EPS or AI files. only Jpg. Does anyone have pictures in that format or can convert a Jpeg to EPS? I don't have photoshop


Thank you for registering for the 2012 Plane Pull!! We are in receipt of your online team registration. This is the 20th Anniversary of the Dulles Family Festival and Plane Pull and we couldn’t have done it without your support over the years, THANK YOU!

Included in your team sponsorship is 25 customized team t-shirts. In order to receive your custom shirts with your logo on the back or your team’s name screen texted in block letters, has to be emailed to me by Monday, August 27th. Your logo must be in an eps or ai black/white format. Each member of your team will also need to register (if they haven’t already done so) under your team in order to have a shirt ordered in his/ her correct size and sign the team waiver form electronically. If your logo has not changed since last year, I have it on file. If you would like to use an updated one please send it to me by the above date in the requested format.

If you need additional team t-shirts they are $10.00/per shirt above the 25.

A FEW FAQ’S ABOUT THE EVENT:

· This is a RAIN OR SHINE EVENT (if severe inclement weather is in the forecast, a message will be on the event website (http://planepull.com) the morning of September 22nd.

· A rope will be attached to a tow bar connected to an Airbus. Twenty-five team members will line up adjacent to the rope attached to the aircraft. The official starter will signal when to start the pull. Once tension is accomplished, the stopwatch will begin. After the team pulls the aircraft 12 feet, the stopwatch will stop.

· The festival is FREE and open to the public . Parking for the event is also free, a free shuttle bus will be circling the parking lot and picking up passengers at the marked bus stops for the short ride to the main festival entrance.

· The first pull is at 11:30AM. I assign pulls by the total of teams, for example if we have 75 teams there will be 75 slots. Slots are divided into AM or PM slots, (AM-11:30AM-1:30PM; PM-1:30PM- 3:30PM),please let me know ASAP your preference. The earlier I receive your request the easier it will be for me to make accommodations. I will send out a pull number confirmation email with a pull time the week of September 10th with your estimated pull time. Please understand that times are only an ESTIMATE based on your pull order number. The times WILL ADJUST periodically throughout the day as delays may occur. Once the confirmation email has been sent your pull time cannot be adjusted.

· Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers in two different categories: Category I - fastest pull and Category II - lowest combined team weight. (Note: Both categories will be recorded from one pull. There will not be two pulls). Awards will also be given for most money raised and most enthusiastic. Awards are given out to the winners onsite after the last pull and all of the data has been processed.
