Ordered one of these from Amazon today. I've wanted one for years.

http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-AVIC-X940BT-Navigation-Touchscreen-Bluetooth/dp/B006Y443TU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1338847432&sr=8-1

Of course I learned all about bypassing the emergency brake safety feature.

Life is good.

Pop may have been able to upgrade you for even less. Might wanna give him a hollar before it ships out?

Don't forget the install kit, steering wheel controls, back up cam, XM plug and play, and IPod interface! :)

Yep, got all the accessories. I paid $599. I don't know why the link now says $619. Maybe they just raised the price.

Not sure about the XM.

Not sure about the XM though.

XM is a true Pioneer plug and play module that you hide under the dash. $99 average price, $10 a month. Same with the Ipod and cam, ports for all that in the back to jack into. LOVE my Pioneer!

I'd like to install an F940BT (european version of the X940BT) im my Marauder. So far i found some necessary accessories for it:
- harness
Scosche FDK11B 2003-Up Select Ford Harness for Audiophile Sound Systems
- connecting the steering wheel buttons
Axxess ASWC Universal Steering Wheel Control Interface

I couldn't find any double din dash kit for the Marauder. :shake: How did you install yours?
What else do/could i need?

Metra makes a kit. I will poke around and see if I can find the number for it.

Some trimming will be necessary for a neat fit.

Look up a Grand Marquis or Crown Vic instead of a Marauder.

Found these on eBay: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_kw=marquis+double+din

You'll also need an interface to keep the steering wheel buttons working.

Contact John Kuhn, he can help you out.

He said that he had the ASWC already.

While we are speaking of interfaces, mine is hit or miss anymore if it works. I have even started wearing the paint off the steering controls fussing with it :( John said to try and reprogram it, so I did and nothing. Also my back up cam has had frozen images twice now and I have had to disconnect it while in reverse and reconnect for it to start working again. Now NO imagine! My stuff is only a year old. Spending money on aftermarket goodies and having issues just months out of the box is annoying to say the least.

But she sure does sound great.

Is the double din install kit from Metra required to secure the unit?

Yes. There are plates that attach to the sides of the HU that fit into the lip on either side of the opening. You will have to trim the bottom lip off and you might want to shorten the shelf by about 2 inches, makes getting all the wiring back in easier.

I'll see if I can get some pics.

In my opinion yes if you want it to look and fit right.

Great, thanks guys. I'll have to see if a local car audio shop or Best Buy have the part since I'd like to install my new unit on Friday. If not I'll just have to order one off ebay or amazon.

There are gaps, as the trim pieces don't fit exact. I used the fuzzy side of velcro on the trim piece that goes on the perimeter of the unit and it looks perfect!

Got my X940BT from Pops. He supplied a Scosche installation kit# FD1330B. The trim is a perfect fit as it snaps into the side brackets. You should also buy the Scosche# FD23B to connect the HU to the factory harness.

Since you have the same unit I have a few questions.

Did you get your reverse gear signal input from the driver kick panel and where did you tap for the car speed signal input?

Also with the parking brake bypass, did you move a pin, ground somewhere or make a negative output trigger relay?

Got the speed signal from the factory harness. Pin # 14 (GY/BK) in the factory 24 pin connector.

Parking brake bypass: http://avic411.com/index.php?showtopic=14761

Picked up the reverse signal at the drivers side kick panel. GY/BK 16 pin connector, Pin # 7 (BK/PK).

Thank you.

I think I will make a negative output trigger relay for the parking brake so I don't have to mess with swapping the pin.

Took me about 30 seconds to move the connector.

Hey I just brought one of the little beauties but I can't figure out how it is going to fit into the gap left by the OEM radio. What double din kit do I need . I already have the harness and steering wheel control kits. Photos would be great too.

Thanks, I had a good read of this thread and there is some excellent info here but I couldn't find the Scosche kit you mentioned. I have already tried one from Metra that didn't work . I think you may have miss quoted the part number... looks like it schould be FD1330B?

Can't recall the part number of hand, but I bought all my stuff from pops here who is a vendor. PM him for guidance. You will need to trim the face of the stock opening to make it work, not to mention in the dash to accommodate the head unit and all the wiring.

You are correct. I added an extra "3". I changed my original post. I just used that kit to install a Kenwood DNX9140 this weekend.
