Many years ago i saw an Chevi Impala SS from the '94 to '96 area on a US car meeting in Germany. Great idea i thought, a full size town car with good power under the hood. Three years ago i found the Mercury Marauder on google which i never saw before. Yeah! That's exactly what i wanted. But where to get one? Wikipedia told me here in Germany there are 3 Marauders, 5 in europe. Ok, i have my doubts on that but there's no market at all here. No Marauder on all internet platforms. Importing one from US brings a lot of hassle and cost another 6000 bucks. And so time passed by while i scanned the internet car platforms. Two months ago suddenly a Marauder popped up: 2004, 77k miles, silver. I drove to Munich, inspected the car and, well, bought it right there. Two weeks later i flew with license plates to Munich and drove my new baby to Berlin. You can bet i got a big grin on ma face all d way! :D

Thanks guys. :)
Indeed it's Berlin, Germany. I don't know any other Marauder here, most guys scratch their head if they see my SB somewhere. As far as i could find out the Marauder was imported to Germany somewhen in 2008.
@Haggis: Guten Tag. If you refer to the club Kudorf, yes, is still open. Now known as Q-Dorf. :P

How to add pics here. Hmm. Let me try...

Btw, the car is still stock. Except a sticker on the trunk. :D
I plan to replace the original radio to a Pioneer AVIC-F940BT but that's all so far.

We all are amazed here at the price of premium gas, what is it in Berlin?

Umm, calculation from litre to gallon... premium gas is now around 1.59 €/l ... 1.99 US$/l ... 7.52US$ per gallon.

About more pics... wanna see one of my daily parking problems? The rear bumper already touches the back wall. German parking spaces are way too small! :D

Well, on the first ride home i did already. :D
I had a smooth ride at 180 km/h (110 mph) on the last 100 miles. To my surprise the noise level was less than expected. 130 or 180 there's not much difference. My '94 Camaro roars above 200 that you can switch off the radio cause it's useless.
Unfortunately with it's 3.55:1 rear axle ratio the car limits itself to 220 km/h (137 mph). It could be more with a different ratio. My Camaro has less horepower but with it's 2.73:1 ratio it goes nearly 250 km/h (155 mph). But i guess that doesn't interest you guys much, you go more the opposite way for a better quarter mile. :D

I believe it's limited to 120 but with a tune you could get 140 or 150. Welcome

Congratulations on your good fortune! Nice looking car you have there. You can get a tune for the car that removes the speed limiter and it adds about 20 MPH. That is one of the best modifications for the money.

Congrats! especially a Silver Birch. With a tune, you just eliminate the governor. Florida Highway Patrol told me his tapped out at 158 mph.

Congrats! So what do they change about the car when it gets imported to Germany?

Ford never sold the Marauder in Germany. So as any imported car the MM needs to get a single acceptnce procedure at the Technical Inspection Authority. They check if the car is street legal according to german laws. Anything what break the law needs to be fixed or it gets a exceptional permission. Some things are in the scope of discretion of the inspector.

My MM got an additional adverse weather warning lamp and two rear red reflex reflectors. These are "must haves" beside the front license plate. My motor vehicle registration certificate is full of additional exceptional permissions to have:
- head lights without headlight range adjustment
- HB5 bulbs
- immobilizer system
- emergency flasher
- seat bolting
- seat belt bolting
- red rear turn signals
- yellow parking lights in the front
Thanks god this was all done when i bought the car.
I only still fight for a small rear license plate. Take a look at the pic and u see why.

So sweet it is. Would be nice to see some pics of the Merc on the Autobahn and some around town pics parked next to little European road turds.

Now you have to supercharge it, get some suspension mods and put a 4 door beat down on the Autobahn.

Oh yeah, there should be some more pics, indeed. Unfortunately i don't have good ones. The winter is comming and any car looks bad in foggy misty weather conditions. :(

Compared to the last picture i finally got a proper license plate. It needed a certificate of exemption and the car was personally inspected by authority to proove that none european size fits.

Not true, some of us like the best of both worlds, I left my 3:55's in for top speed as well as quarter mile. I can attest to the top speed fun factor, maybe not so much fun for the owner of the CTS-V, but fun for me. :D

Add yourself about 300 RWHP and left the fun, i.e. beat downs begin.

Find yourself a Trilogy kit someone is selling, bolt it on and then REALLY have fun on the autobahn! :burnout:

Added bonus = better fuel mileage! :D N/A with 3.55s best attained was 21 to 23mpg. Now with 4.10s & Trilogy getting 24mpg! The rest of the boost community tells me their experience is the same.

Smiles per mile factor increase is about 1,000,000%!

Then add "Kompressor" badges on your Marauder and go Porsche hunting!

A new tune, taking off the limit on top speed, J mod, would be cool to just to eleminate back two cat converters to make more of a rumble and help breathing, also tune can shut down cats and if not on car would inspectors know? Those couple of items would help a lot!

Awesome story and thread. I bet most of the MM's get their from Soldiers who PCS there and sell them for top dollar. Nothing like a little American muscle roaring through the streets of Germany.;)

Unfortunately the inspectors would know. With the inspection every second year comes a exhaust emission check. Deleted cats would be obviously noted. Of course i could do that but then the MM would loose it's low emmision classification and that raises the annual tax for the car.

Maybe i do the J mod but i don't think it will be much more. To hunt a Porsche it needs way more (if we skip the weak Porsche Boxter). Besides a "Kompressor" it needs to lower the car, new suspension kit, a better breaking system, removing weight, car balancing, new tires, new drive shaft, stronger transmission, .... From a finacial viewpoint it's cheaper to buy a 2nd hand Corvette - or a Shelby for the Ford enthusiasts. :P

I like the confident lady and her natural beauty. If she don't get a menopause it can be a long marriage. :D

I have yet to see it but a buddy of mine said he saw a Marauder with a sticker across the back window that said

Porsche Pursuit Vehicle

I'm thinking of putting one of those on my car one day

I'd keep up from 0-30 and then maybe catch up at 70-100 but then I'd be dust

it would be a cool sticker to have in Germany.
