Trans started whining on wide open throttle 3 weeks ago. Progressively got worse, and in a hurry. Now drive and overdrive slips badly, but 1 and 2 are fine. Trans has fresh fluid.
Need advice, comments, thoughts, help.
Thanks.

I had a whining issue coming home from MV8. I changed the filter and fluid and haven't have a problem in well over a year since it happened. We cut the filter open, but never found anything inside or what could have caused it. I had a fluid flush two weeks before I left for MV8 and it was fine the entire time I was out there. Just 20 miles from home was when it started. Try the fluid and filter change, my fluid was clean and full but the whine and slippage would show up once the trans reached operating temp.

That would be a bonehead move if you do infact S/C like you are planing. It's only rated for 450 engine horse, and I would imagine a basic Eaton swap is somewhere around that figure. No sense in cutting it that close. Sounds to me like its just a barebones basic rebuild with a Jmod. Do they offer an upgraded one? Think future..
I take it the F.M. didn't help?

I'm going to drain and refill tomorrow along with the fm. I got a feeling this thing is toast though.
Yes, they have a racing one, but it only has a 90 day warranty. This one is 3 years.

I am not a trans expert, but have heard very good things about Monster. If it were me I would call them direct and tell them the vehicle, weight, driving habits and end goals keeping warranty in mind and let them make the call. Perhaps even a different set up tailored to your needs with a decent warranty.

I went and had the fluid flushed at Ford. Made no difference at all. Slips in all gears. I didn't try the friction modifier, but with all new fluid, it shouldn't make a difference.
Ford is going to quote me on a remanufactured trans with a 3 year, 100k warranty.

I spoke with Dan last night. He's on the expensive side, but seems to really know what he's talking about.
With the mods I have, he recommeded a 10" 2800 torque converter, and said it would be around $700. Way too much. Anyone have an opinion on this one?

How did you get a 3 yr warranty from a FORD DEALER ???
They only give 1yr/12,000 on a transmission or anything else.
$2337 is also very expensive.
My Marauder needs one also and I'm thinking of going to BC and talk to Darin.
Warranties don't really mean anything anymore.
A good transmission should last a reasonable amount of time.

It's a FORD REMAN transmission. They are not doing it themselves. The service manager specifically stated the 3 yr unlimited mile warranty to me.
Ask people whose trannies died shortly after being "fixed" how important warranties are.

I guess you've only seen cars on the EAST COAST from the snow belt...
Any vehicle from the southern states will have an underside
looking that clean unless they drove it through the mud.
I've tried to keep mine clean but road salt does its job anyway.
I've also service both my tranny and diff every 30,000 miles and what did it get me anyway...
It is too much of a coincidence that so many 4R7xW transmissions are failing.

Here it is disassembled. The clutches and bands were fried. The pump was fine. Debris from the clutches clogged the filter and starved the pump for fluid. There was also a small piece of rubber that was stuck in a hole in the valve body. The rebuilder had no idea where it could have come from.
