Built 4R75W with valve body kit question

Anyone here have a similar setup? I had the trans built last year and has been solid. Question is when turning off the OD the trans shifts much slower and doesn't bang the shifts when the OD is left on. Seems sluggish, when I first got it tuned I was very disappointed but then realized leaving the OD on actually performed much, much better.

I'm suppost to have 4r75w innards and I notice no difference in shift feel/speed OD on or off? With my limited understanding I can't see why it woud make a difference?
