I got my rear spoiler today, and I was wondering how many others did their own install. I got the spoiler mounted fine, but I would like to know where to wire the 3rd brake light in. (I'll have to post pics tomorow)

Otherwise, it was a pretty strait forward install.

Well, since my dad is an aircraft electrician and I have helped him in many cases when wiring up goodies in various automobiles, it is my educated opinion that you should wire it up to the actual 3rd brake light in the rear window. Not looking at the kind of wires supplied or the wires in the 3rd brake light housing in the window, I would guess you could just splice into them just fine.

Is he with Boeing?

Good answer. Mine was wired thru the trunk lid, out near the trunk lid arm, then under the package shelf, and enters under the third brake light assy. The wires are protected by 1/8 inch black wire loom, and tie w***** in appropriate locations.

I still need to get some of that plastic wire wrap stuff to finish it out.

Here is where it exits the deck lid

Here is where the 3rd brake light wires are. They come out of the same bundle as the wire harness for the in trunk courtesy light, and looks like 1 wire wrapped in electric tape. You only have about 2 & 1/2 to 3 inches to play with.

This is about as close up as I can get with the spare in the way.
The hardest part is getting the spoiler lined up where you want it. It has a tendency to curve less than the curvature of the trunk. I had to get a little help from my neighbors to apply the proper amount of down force. :D

Thanks for the help. Now the wait for the weather to warm up to 70 degrees so I can install the SS Inserts. That will be June if I'm lucky. :depress:
