Lined up against a friends '96 LT1 Fleetwood, he's got 99k miles, bone stock. Ran from a 10MPH roll to about 70 (empty highway, 6:30 AM) and he kicked my ass. The lower end torque of the LT1 was too much for the Intech to keep up with, so he pulled on me at the lower speeds, but by 50-60, I was gaining on him but didn't want to get too ridiculous with it, so I let off at 70 before I caught up with him and coasted back down.

I'm sure if we raced from a 60 MPH roll, or from a stop, it would have been different, but I always thought the LT1 would eat the Intech from a low speed roll.

Get a tune and a 4:10 rear:burnout:

Tune and gear is dead on.

Those LT1s in B-Body trim have the torque to move, but they don't have the power to really pull far and away on the top end.

Did you cut the overdrive off.

^^^^^ What they said. ^^^^^

Will even things up pretty well on the low end, and you'll still have the top end grunt.

With the LT1's tendency to spin the rear tires from a stop, would the Marauder be able to put up a fight considering it's tendency to simply grab and go from a stop?

I was going to ask the same thing.

Won't matter if the overdrive was on or off won't go into overdrive if you have it floored.it was from a 10 MPH roll out any how,go Marauder lol.

Your's grabs? Weird. :)

Seriously, the gearing in his trans is what got you. Put in some 4.30's and don't let this happen again or no soup for you!

I got it once to paint two identical 20 foot strips of rubber, but I think traction control was off.

I floored it from a stop tonight with the traction control off. Squealed both wheels for a couple of seconds, but hardly what I'd call a burn out.

You know what sucks worse than not being able to break traction?

Not being able to not break traction. :(

Seriously though, smoke shows are fun, but it's nice to count on hooking well from a dig, lord knows these cars need that...

But, my tires are brand new and have barely 3000 miles on them.

If a healthy burnout is what you seek, simply add linelock. Even before I installed mine, my car always responded quite well to brake torques when she was 100% stock.

I have the Hurst roll control.

Oh, I don't mean doing brake stands. I've tried that once and was quite impressed with the results. I mean simply turning the traction control off and putting the pedal to the medal and letting the car do the rest.
