Before i install an Pioneer in my MM it would be wise to be sure how the factory setup is. I searched the forum and asked google too but couldn't find the answer. :o
Is there an amplifier in the 04 MM for the speakers or are they powered by the radio? I know there's an amplifier in the back but does it just power the sub or all speakers?
And if someone has a full wiring diagram for the radio stuff i'd be happy to take a look at it. :D

The amp under the rear package shelf is just for the sub.

You can buy a wire harness online and attach it to your Pioneer deck, then plug directly into the factory harness. The deck does the amplifying.

I would recommend running a direct ground to one of the screws under the dash on the frame instead of using the black wire on the factory harness. It takes an extra few minutes but guarantees you no issues if your deck is power hungry.

Stay tuned in a week or so I will be posting a ton of pics from a stereo install I just completed, and there are some of the deck and harnesses.

The wiring for the separates goes straight from the deck to the speakers. DO a search on ford24 wiring harness. Theres a thread containing the full wiring scheme for installing a pioneer radio.

Pretty good description. I appreciate the hint with the direct ground.
Today my Pioneer + the backup camera + the steering wheel control interface arrived. Just the install kitt is somewhere on the way. So i have time to wait for the pics of your installation. :D
Where did you put the GPS cookie?

Here's what it looks like behind the factory head unit:

The red plug you see is the factory harness that plugs into the back of the factory head unit.
The black wire with the yellow connector is my added ground to metal frame under the dash. I posted above that this is to supply ample power to the deck; I forgot to mention it also prevents extra noise in your audio from car electrical systems. It's a good idea in all cases, trust me I've solved noise issues doing it before.
The silver plug on the bottom is the antenna wire for the radio; this wire runs down the passenger side of the vehicle to the back window where the antenna is along the top.

The harness outside of the enclosure is the aftermarket harness you can use to hook your new deck up with. It will plug right into the red factory plug inside the enclosure.

The blue connectors are all of the speaker, power, and other wires and connect directly to the harness that plugs into the back of your new deck.

Here's a shot upwards from under the dash on the driver side. The top of the photo is in the direction of the driver's seat.

Near the left side of the pic you see a blue wire connector bolted to the frame. This is a ground for my radar detector, it would also work for a deck. There are many bolts like this available under the dash and you can find one closer to the center of the dash. Easy peasy!

I didn't install a deck with GPS, but the module can go pretty much anywhere under the dash unless it requires line of sight to the sky. If this is the case, I would run the wire under the dash, up the driver windshield pillar, and along the top of the windshield to where the rearview mirror is where it can be hidden behind the mirror but in sight of the sky. A bluetooth microphone can installed in a similar fashion, out of sight, but where it gets clear reception of your voice.

Good luck, and have fun!

Another question, where to get access to parking brake and reverse gear info?
I know the MM has a CAN-Bus so the information is at the 16 pin connector (pin 15 and 16) but i don't want to buy a $130 PAC adapter for just these informations or to program a micro controller by myself. :D

No need, just use a standard relay to hook up to the parking brake wire and have it activate when the deck turns on.
