Can I Ask A Favor?

Some of you guys may know my son, E-Dubb. He's looking to replace his SHO Taurus, which recently bit the dust.

He's found a couple of cars in FL that he's interested in, and I was wondering if there are any SSM folks near Ft. Lauderdale or Tampa that would be willing to take a look at either of these cars and give us some feedback.

Yeah, Eric's was a '97, nice car, so he'd like to replace it in kind, if possible.

The SHO was definitely not run of the mill Taurus. ;)

A friend of mine works at that Fort Lauderdale Dealership for quite a long time. Give him a call . His name is : Rick Massie 954-845-3700 or his cell 954-591-2672. Tell him you know me. I purchased at least 3 or 4 auto's from him over the years when he worked at Pines Linciln Mercury. I got my marauder from him too. He's easy to work with.

Hey, good deal; thanks! RoyLPita's gonna check it out as well, but multiple opinions is a good thing.

Yeah, a common problem with the cars is the drive gears slipping on the DOHC causing the engines to go out of time which = BOOM! (That's what happened to my son's '97). Engine should be real quiet when running, no ticking in the top end which often signifies problems starting with the cam gears. (the fix for the problem is getting the gears pinned or welded to the shafts, which ain't cheap, but better than a blown motor).

Other than that, the usual things, smooth shifting trans, no shudders under hard turns or hard braking.

Apparently the right rear quarter panel got whacked at one time, would be nice if you could take a close look at the repair job done on it (don't think it was major damage, more of a fender bender).
