I finally got 410 gears installed..I ended up having to replace the axels also. The "C" install kibugsyt I got was the wrong one..I had a C3 kit which is for a newer model car..Most of the parts were the same except for the pinion bearing or bushing..That needed to be gotten as well. The axels were rusted on and it took over an hour just to get them out. I was at Fastlane motorsports in Benson NC,a real speed shop..must have been 50 mustangs there..GT,5.0,turbos,whipples etc. They have a dyno and are very professional...cost me double what I had planned on spending. Great people there who were able to work with me on price...rear is very quiet.I feel the difference and glad I had them done...Then new axels for some reason came with new lug nuts,,Look exactly like original. Also the bolt they screw on to,,I have 2 sets if anyone is interested in them let me know..bugsy...:)

Congratulations on another great mod. The car must feel a few hundred pounds lighter. Did they do the retune for new gears ?

Congratulations. I also had to pay twice as much for my install because of axle problems. They are professional guys over at Fastlane. Enjoy!!

Yeah, was wondering the same thing; hope so.

@ bugsy: if they didn't, you'll notice the speedometer reads about 15% high.

^^+1^^

Congrats on getting the 410s....sucks that you had to have axles replaced, but sounds like something you would've had to have done eventually...and not get stranded somewhere since you took care of it now.

Any mixed feelings of spending the $ to have this done will decrease exponentially every time you burn some rubber.

Welcome to the 410 club!!!

Congrats on the install. I have an appointment for mine on Monday and am fearful about my axles also (although the tsb for the soft axle issue was done on mine about 30k miles ago).

Oh, and fastlane is tip top. While I never had any work done by them, I know quite a few people from my Harley/lightning days that had motors built by them...and they were BEASTS to put it mildly.

They let you stand over them and watch everything that's done..You'll see for yourself how your present axels look..
