I have an '04 which I purchased in February of '04. I believe it's a factory sunroof. The window sticker shows MOONROOF under OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT and the MSRP is 1,025.00.
I noticed that when I closed the sunroof, the back of the sunroof on the driver's side was sagging a bit (i.e. not flush with the roof). In the "vent" position (where the sunroof isn't slid back, but instead the rear of the sunroof is raised while the front remains in the down and closed position) you can see much of the rails. On the driver's side a part that appears to connect the track to the rails had either fallen off or broken off. The similar part for the passenger side appears to be in the correct position (and when closed, the passenger side does not droop).
I've included photos of all these things I've described.
My questions are:
1. Did something break or did that part (pictured) just fall off. I don't see any obvious signs of something having broken, yet the part did come off. If reattached (somehow) would everything be fine or would it just fall off again?
2. If the part can be re-attached, how do I get to the track and rail to re-attach it? There was enough room for me to stick my fingers in there and pull the part out but I don't think there's enough room for me get my fingers and there and manipulate the part in place.
3. Do I need to remove the headliner to gain enough room to work on this thing? If so, what's the best way to remove the headliner?
Thanks,
Mike.
