Alright, I have finally decided to ask this question on here because I am frustrated. Some of you may get a kick out of this, but where in the world is the drain bolt on the converter? I have turned that engine over several times and I don't see it. I have looked on the bottom and on the inside as best as I could with it still bolted to the flywheel and I don't see it. Any help from you guys will be greatly appreciated.

You either pump out the old fluid while adding new fluid aka: two bucket method or you take it to a shop that has a machine that can exchange the fluid. ONLY USE Mercron V fluid.

How do I pump out the old fluid? I don't trust shops around here because I have been taken advantage of before.

When I did the JMOD on my 2004 Grand Marquis, there were two lines by the radiator that pushed the trans fluid two different directions.

I had to undo one of the lines (it was specified which one just cant remember), put a drain pan under it, start the car and let it idle.

The old fluid will be pumped out and you turn off the car when the stream of fluid starts to loose pressure (very noticeable)

That was for a grand marquis and thats just my experience.

Just giving food for thought.

On the crown vic site there are plenty of instructions, just not sure how compatable it all is with marauders.

Ford de-contented the TC drain plug during MY 2001.

tallpaul, unless your fluid is visibly bad and should be completely exchanged, you could also install a drain plug on the pan and do a couple of drain & fills back-to-back, then do a drain & fill at the next few engine oil changes.

Yep. About half the fluid drains each time.

So at oil changes - swap t fluid too.

1st time = 50% new
2nd time = 75% new
3rd time = 87.5% new

and so on.

Usually about 6 quarts drain - with a slightly oversized drainable pan.

Cheap way to keep your fluid fresh.

BTW: Anyone know if the pan on an 06 Lincoln Town car is the same as the marauder? I want to install a drainable pan for the very above reason.

I believe the TC has a 4R70W or 4R75W so the pan would be the same.

That's pretty much what I figured. A buddy of mine is welding in the drain plug for me. I was thinking that I might just have to fill it up and then drive it to let it circulate some. Drain and fill it and repeat.

Fluid is always circulating when the engine is running. After refilling, by the time you've run through the gears a couple of times the new and old fluids are pretty thoroughly mixed. Driving it around the block is more than enough.

Adding a drain plug will make the convertor unbalanced. You will most certainly cause damage to seals and bearings.

I guess I missunderstood him. I thought he was talking about the drain pan, my bad. I meant he is welding in the drain plug into my drain pan not the converter.
