Hi all,
I'm new to the marauder experience... sorry if this has been addressed before-
I've noticed that, when manually shifting from 1 to 2 to D, the shifter does not have a very 'solid' detent for 2nd gear.... one could easily breeze right through 2nd gear and into 3rd if not mindful ... if that makes sense.
All else seems fine (i.e- stops at drive, need to push the button to get to neutral or out of park)

Is this a marauder/CVsport trait or do I have a wore out shifter....?
Can this be remedied?
Any insight welcome
-Brad

:welcome1:

I rarely manually shift, but if memory serves, it is not a solidly positive detent.

If you would like to see 6,700 to 6,800 RPM's then manually shift her right at 6,200! :) Been there, seen that WITH a Jmod!

No more manually shifting for me.. I just let her strut her stuff at 6,400.

Normal, that it does not have a positive "click" when shifting manually.

Personally, I let the transmission do it's own thing.

LOL, wow! how did 6800 feel?
I'm just having fun at around 6200 (shift at 6k red line) with the manual 1-2 'squak'... new toy ya know, lol.
... kinda off topic ,but, how do you like the jmod?

The Jmod should be the first thing you do to really enjoy the car and to help the tranny last longer. 6,800? Scary the first time, but with having a Cobra block stored away, It no longer is a biggie. :) I just choose not to in fear of cleaning the oil bath under the car. LOL

The only manual shifting I ever do is the O/D on and off and I don't do that very often.

Do you have a tune? If not get one it will solve many of the OEM transmission shift issues that most of us hate.

Get a Jmod, a tune, and let the tranny do it's own thing, you'll still get that squak out of the rear tires...

Yeah, I figured the Jmod would be the first (or close to it) order of buisness, followed by a tune and 4.10s or 4.30s.... I'll see how civil I can keep the car being that it's the wifes DD during the week and our road tripper on the weekends.
...My biggest gripe so far is that it's a pig outta the hole. I figure gears alone will cure most of that issue.

Thanks for your input everyone!:)

Before doing heavy modifications to mine, I did 4:10s, UD pulleys and a tune. It woke the car up a lot!

Oh..and I never manually shift the car.

Don't manually shift- duly noted.

I hadn't really thought of the UD setup, does the car still get sufficient voltage/cooling ..whatnot.

You will need to bump the RPM's a couple hundred at idle.

Your shifter is correct. You have to push the button to get out of park into reverse and then you can move from reverse to neutral w/o pushing the button. Then you need to push the button to go from N to D, D to 2 and 2 to 1. Going back the other way you can shift from 1 to 2 to D to N w/o pushing the button but to get from N to R and R to P you have to push the button. The column shifters are the same way other than pulling the lever to you instead of pushing the button.

What is meant by this is that some of the transmission components wear much quicker when shifted manually from 1 to 2, leading to premature failure.

Although, I don't think your local popo like it so much either.
