How's the power

Its still lacking in power, but I rushed my builder/tuner to get it done for 2012 panther nationals. My dad is currently in end stage IPF and ill be here at the parents house all week caring for him, so the car will be going back to Marti Racing for a street tune on and off the bottle.
I absolutely love the Rev-Max stall for my 4L80E in this car. Great low end launch while keeping torque while rolling. Its pretty amazing to be in the marauder, be rolling in 3rd gear at about 1500, stab the gas and actually feel something! Its a muscle car now for sure!

This is just the trainer motor. There is an LS7 block/crank sitting as well as some square port heads and a T56 that will be in next season. Looking to get to some Texas Mile and Silver State Classic events.

You really should document every step while it's still fresh in your memory.

Honestly, I didnt do really a darn thing. I helped wrench when I could and screwed stuff up more than did anything. Marti Racing of Jasper Missouri did the majority of the swap and fixing the original shops screw ups.
Basic recap of things I can remember:
Dirty Dingo swap mounts for an SN95 will work
Flipping a clearancing the rear of the trans crossmember from the marauder will work
Use a truck pan and cut the bottom/pickup and reweld for clearance
If you want to use headers, the 2nd gen camaro long tubes from Dynatech for the LSX will work with a little massaging for steering shaft (just like regular marauder headers). You will also need to take the stock motor mounts (used with the dirty dingo kit) and cut from the top of the clamshell and make a cut at the outboard 45 degrees from the top, take a pipe that fits and cut a part that will bow inward to clear for header pipes.
Stock radiator and fan will work beautifully. My motor is actually TOO cool at 180 degrees in traffic blasting AC
Truck accessories and intake will clear the hood with a little clearancing to the bracing under the hood. Not much, just a little bit. Mine looks pretty clean and I am a monkey when it comes to welding/body work.
Factory shifter will work with the auto, just you will not be able to drop into 1st gear. Second is 1st on indicator, Drive is 2nd and OD is drive. There is no way that I found to run od through the factory button.
Keep the factory ECU and BCU to run the body controls and such, also keep your stock harness and run your factory gauges with factory senders/speedo calibrators/tach translators. I didnt keep the stock gauges and wish someone would have told me I could have done this before I destroyed my factory cluster. Run a 4 wire LSx controls setup with a standalone ECU, I found that under the air cleaner in my car (over the compressor for rear suspension which my car does retain) is a perfect place for the standalone controller.
Any decent shop can have this wired up in a month after you drop it in. If you are tired of no torque, 4 cam complexity and no header options and dont want to go blower or nitrous, the LS swap is the way to go. I am upset that it is NOT a ford motor, but the room around the motor as well as the factory fit and finish look as well as the ease in repairs and abundance of mechanics/parts is SOOO nice. I plan on blowing this motor with some bottle (or low 11s in the quarter, whichever hits first) and we have an LS7 bare block/crank sitting with some nice square port AFRs, and a T56 waiting to go in, probably twin SC61s and some texas mile times on 2.73 gears. Hoping to be the first streetable marauder to break into the 200mph zone.

How much are you thinking it will be putting down HP wise?

With the current motor, 420ish with matching torque NA, With bottle well above 500 and 550 torque.
The new motor will have to be in the 900-1100 range in order to get above 200mph in the mile.

So which do you have an LS2 or LQ4/LQ9?

Lq4 with 241 heads flowed to ported Ls6 specs. Static compression is the same as an lq9 thanks to the smaller combustion chambers of the heads. The ls7 block and such is the end product going in after I get comfortable with this driveline setup and work out all the chassis bugs.

I am going to go with wetsump on the LS7. The dry sump from GM is pretty ganky and does not like to support the rod bearings. A local Z06 just said bye bye to his motor while driving (spiritedly) home. MPG wise I am currently getting 19-20 combined highway/city and thats on a stalled 4L80E with too big a fuel pump. I feel like I could get in the 20s combined but who knows...probably the new motor will run E85 or CNG so mpg numbers will be way off from gas.
Let me know what you want for all your LS7 shortblocks you have as a lot and we can go from there! Thanks!
