You're definitely the first person to ask this, so I'm glad you brought it up. Since you're the first, there certainly won't be any old threads for you to search though discussing the matter, so someone else will do the leg work for you and present it here in a nice, complete package tailored to your every need.

i know about 450 hp is the seemingly safe limit
but i cant seem to find a real awnser about what its based off of
and i know there are some small differances between the 99-01 cobra engine and the 03+ mach 1 stuff
im just trying to be fully informed not being lazy about it i have read thru hundreds of pages pf stuff just trying to get a clear awnser about it so i make a good and cognicent decision about my car
im sorry if i offended you ive spent years on forums and am far from a newb when it comes to cars but those who dont clearly know what they are workign with tend to make the biggest mistakes im sure that u were new to something once or twice ( like when u lost your virginity) so take it easy we are all here to help eachother not be internet warriors

No, referring to above sarcasm. With all the BS the threads are filled with, the search function is useless. Ask the question in google and it will link you to the thread that has useful information. Any threads with any bit of info in the last two years is derailed and full of nonsense.

correct i was referring to juice, his location is cvn-76 which is an aircraft carrier so the squid comment was for him, i think the navy should be a department of the marine corps, lol

but from the knowledge i got from this site, the general rule for the stock marauder bottom end it 8-9psi at around 420-450HP, and it is more based of the mach 1 than the cobras, thats all i got FWIW

The search function is far from useless, the people using it are. Most of the questions I have about anything on my car I have found by searching old threads. Does it take a little time and patience? Absolutely, but the answers are there. I guess I resent it a little bit when I go through the effort to find something, then see posts like this.

It is especially true for a ridiculous question like the one posed here. This is one of the things that has been discussed for almost 10 years in great detail. Hell, one of the better threads about it is in the "similar threads" block at the bottom of this thread. Since I was curious about the answer as well, I actually did a little digging, and learned quite a bit in 10 minutes of searching.

Nothing personal against the OP, just tired of lazy people.

You might want to ask this question to a more informed crowd. Like the mustang crowd. Ask them about the Mach 1 engine. Dont get me wrong, there are plenty of informed people here and they will probaly chime in with more techs than I have right now. And yes there are plenty of threads here that discuss this subject but they are full of alot of that's what she said and wow to horsepowers. I've read two pages once of how bad a car was going to be but no one commented or discussed on technicals. My stock motor made 508 hp on 12lbs boost for race tune and I think around 470 something for street tune, gotta dig up dyno sheets. Good finding what you need.

The search function blows unless you have several hours to sift through the BS.
I would say our motors are similar to the Mark 8 and Aviator motors,
Aluminum block and non-forged internals.

Not a Cobra. Ours is the Mach 1 engine.

I found this related thread from 2008 citing modular ford engines that may give you more insight into the power limits and failure modes. Note the number of appearances related to the #7 and #8 pistons >>>>>>> http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=49979&highlight=aviator+engine

I believe old car and driver articles are still on the web so I would look there. They don't mention anything about the hp levels though. Wikipedia says it's a mach1 engine, but I wouldn't trust wikipedia.

wondered how long before this simple question was clarified. Are motor is the Mach1 motor. After ford got stuck with a ton of are motors cause poor sales they had to find something to put it in. Hence the Mach1. Every few years it is the reverbiele questions time & time again

It is the same as the Mach1 engine except minor details such as timing cover. Mach1 engine specs are towards the bottom of this page: http://www.mach1registry.com/Specs/Specs.htm
