Here are a few photos of what i believe to be the root cause to my issues that i have experienced. I have posted a few issuses and some have tried to help, but i believe this is going to be the root of all the other problems.

Take a look, it looks to me as thought the valve seat has a small notch in it cause by something, aslo looks as though the valve has a small amount of metal that should not be there. I believe maybe a spark plug ground/ side electrode must have broken off or something to that nature. I will be trying to get the heads of in the upcoming days, just been so busy with work.

The only plus side is that i have been getting a lot of OT, and driving my little xB to work = a lot of saved up gas money to put torwards the upgrades.

Recently purchased the Manley Performance Valve spring set from MMR, ordering the billet cam spacers and possibly the stainless valves if the machine shop finds a single bent one. I am also wondering where i can find a PHP intake spacer for a good price. Looking to purchase a J-MOD also.

any info on anything is greatly appreciated, good or bad.

Thanks,

Jamie

by any chance do you also have a slight knock sound coming from the engine?

Yes I did but it sounded like it was come from the s/c on the passenger side so I had though maybe the bearings were bad I don't know if this would be the sound I heard because this is th #6 cylinder, second one from the front of the engine I believe.

Something that small would have gone out thru the exhaust. Take it out so you can identify better.

By the photo it doesn't seem like you have many miles on the motor ?
What type of gas do you use & Have you ever used any other type of fuels ?

as far as different types of fuel, i personally never put in anything but Chevron Supreme 91 octane.

Why 91 and not 93?

Why 91 and not 93?

There are areas of the country that you can't get 93 octane

Straight from the owner's manual....

Your vehicle is designed to use
“Premium” unleaded gasoline with
an (R+M)/2 octane rating of 91 or
higher for optimum performance.
The use of gasolines with lower
octane ratings may degrade performance. The use of gasolines labeled as
“Premium” in high altitude areas that are sold with octane ratings of less
than 91 is not recommended.

Yes i have herd it, my car does this now actually, just chopped it up to ill fix it when I get new heads in the future. I have a video on youtube. I'm kinda surprised that more people on here don't have it. Read that this is a specific problem with some the Mach 1, 03-04 heads, and being we all use the same heads there is a great chance some the marauders got them..

The car i just bought has a small knock as well but i was reading somewhere that some guys have had some success with putting sea foam through the engine's. I haven't tried it yet but will in the next couple of days i hope it works a miracle.
