I purchased my Marauder used from a Ford dealer, thanks to a post in the classified section on Friday. I've been looking for one for the last two months or so, and ended up flying to Georgia from my home state of VA to pick mine up. Love the car, it was a pleasure to drive 10 hours home in - a real road car.

So, as a new owner I wanted to post up some things I've learned since my purchase less than two days ago.

1. This car is the best highway car I've owned. Super solid feeling on the road, comfortable as hell. Nice stereo for stock, really.

2. Marauders get a lot of attention. I also drive a bright yellow '89 Mustang LX coupe with a matched color cage, cowl hood, big and little Pro Stars, an 11:1 nasty cammed 306 and full 3" exhaust with dumps. I mention this because the Marauder has generated almost as many positive complements on a per-drive basis!

3. The factory black paint sucks! I spent about 2 1/2 hours with "The Black Box" clean and wax kit and only now does the car really shine. Paint on this car is terrible for a 50k mile car, as in dull Still looks great when detailed to the average person, but I wish it were nicer.

4. These cars are rare. None were even advertised within 70 miles of me, and I've never seen one here in Richmond, VA although there must be a few somewhere. Lots of car guys know Marauders, but most people don't have any idea what this thing is.

5. Even 70 year olds don't always keep their car stock. My MM was supposedly traded in by a 70 year old man. I assumed it was stone stock, judging by the untouched engine bay and paper filter. It did have a nice sound, but I figured that was a Marauder thing. Upon detailing the car I noticed it has Megs tips, which got me to looking - deleted resonators and Flowmasters. Right on, grandpa!

Anyway, thanks to this community for teaching me a lot about these cars, I look forward to contributing in the future

Welcome aboard and get ready to spend some money. Everybody gets the urge to buy something for these cars. You must have an '03. They have factory paint issues.

Keep your eye peeled for CAM events ... we're only about 80-90 miles north of you on I-95. Easy run in a Marauder.

I hope I can keep the mod bug from biting too hard, guys. I have a Ford warranty for 5 years and I'm torn about voiding my warranty with a tune, CAI, headers etc. Plus I have the Mustang if I just want to go fast. Any experience with warranty and mods, guys?

There's a very similar story with mine. My car's previous owner was 75 (as proven by the copy of his death certificate I found in the glovebox) and had an aftermarket tune installed along with a few Marauder decals. The car was returned to stock and the stickers were removed before sale though. The stealership tried to sell me the used chip for $350 after the sale.

Your next mission, should you choose to accept it, is to attend MVX...

Big +1 on that!

Will give you another perspective on the Marauder Nation, as well as a chance to check out cars with all different levels of mods.
