I got the car back Friday AM from Hillview Transmission where it was since Monday for a rebuild and install of the Circle D triple plate 3600-3800 stall convertor.
I had the tailshaft forced lube mod and a cooler installed last month by Bobs' Hillview.
Bob Baker owner of Bobs' Hillview refered me to have the trans done by his trans guy Chuck Betke owner of Hillview transmission.
I would like to thank publicly, all parties that had a hand in this project, You have collectively transformed the feel of this car in several ways;
My first impression;
The gear shifter is snug moves with considerably more effort.
The clicks between gear changes are much more pronounced.
When the transmission engages from park or shifts reverse to drive the whole car bumps abruptly.
A couple changes were made as well, I had Chuck reinstall the softer Mustang springs in the 1-2 & 2-3 accumulators.
He showed me several parts he replaced besides a Trans Star Master overhaul kit that I got from Lonnie(saved me some $)
The first two shift are quick and relatively soft but 3-4 and OD lockup is like getting rear ended.:D
Launching casually requires a couple hundred more rpms, but it is super smooth and regulated if you happen to have a sore neck.
You definatly feel any any aggressive throttle input , one third pedal and the tires are in a blaze(dig).
Tip in at any speed has been silky smooth and continues to drive and sound very near stock under normal driving .
The shifting 3-4 and lockup are like getting a j-mod, the lockup is a whoot Especially!
All the concerns/dislikes I had with the previous PI stall convertor are history.
This is exactly what this car needed and I can't wait to see what results these get at the track!
Don't fear the stall!:lol:
