Okay, I promise I searched the threads first but couldn't find the answer. I had my MM at the drag strip and got home to find a huge amount of tire rubber thrown up on the lower rear panel and exhaust tip. This definitely did not come off my P-Zero's but it came up off the track. Soap and water won't touch it. I saw a thread where Mother's is recommended to clean this off the tips but how about the car itself? I know there are products out there. What is best that will not hurt the paint?

3 things I do.
1.) Try something like "goo-gone"
2.) Scratch each piece with a finger nail very carefully...push on each piece, not under it, but on it as much as you can.
3.) Try a hard scrub brush too, while it is painted on there, the surface is not metal (for the panals at least) so it shouldn't scratch the paint off if you don't use something abrasive like a wire brush.

Thanks, but this stuff is really thick - several layers.

Next time you go to the track spray some PAM (non-stick cooking spray) on the areas that catch this stuff......You will be pleasantly surprised!! ;)
A friend of mine has a large travel trailer and he sprays the frontal area with PAM to keep bugs from sticking.....Water hose rinse gets 'em off!!

Marauderjack :DCheck www.jegs.com (http://www.jegs.com/), they have a product clled Burnout Guard (Catalog #: 432-321, $7.99; Drag Pack includes Easy Wipe dial in applicator, to replace shoe polish, $8.99 the set Cat #: 432-506) which is inexpensive and works perfectly for those "rubber" zits you get from the track. This will not hurt your finish or clearcoat and is washable with water. I've been using it, and it is great.:banana2: :banana2:

Try wd40 it works great on my pipes & 1/4s after a trip to the dragstrip. Make sure to have lots of rags on hand that stuff gets messy.

Keith, where you racing, here in 'Bama? I'm in Hunysville now, feeling need for speed, tired of stoplights vs. ricers.

Although I have yet to go myself-- but in due time of course--but the first thought that came to me was --"painters tape"- applied over the areas to get "hit" and then pull it off---if any residue should be left--it should come of with normal stuff--I plan on that myself----anyone?????????????

I'm in Hunysville now, feeling need for speed, tired of stoplights vs. ricers. At least you get stoplight...anything, all the rice boys here are either too scared, or don't know how to run the manual tranny that they have. Given that, if they have an auto, I think they stick it in second and drive all over town doing no more than 30.:shake: Anyone else I couldn't win over if I tried...
Sorry, I'm supposed to be responsible and not think outloud;)

Dude, next time you head to the strip, send me an email. I wanna see your car run!
I'd like to see the Birmingham/Alabama MM owners get access to Barber Motorsports Park. The local Porsche club has events there all the time. I'd love to run my car on that track and my guess your S/C MM would really fly around it!

Totally off topic, but if you like German food, there's an awsome restaurant in H'ville. When there are union functions in that town, we always head over there.
If interested, PM me.

I agree with Shankin WD40 works and won't harm the paint. Regardless of what you use Vaseline, WD, Pam, etc... I would take the time to wax affected areas afterwards. No doubt these will strip off wax.

I found that stopping by the water area at the end of the track and utilizing their hoses works great. I wash it off after every run by merely wiping with my hand.
My power sprayer takes the rest off when I either get home, or hit the self wash after leaving the track.
BTW: The PAM works the best, is cheap, and least offensive.

You got it. Still learning how to do more than just floor it which accomplishes nothing.
I didn't know there was a group here. Access to Barber would be incredible.
I still want us to do an all-day "outing" here...http://www.tgprace.com/

Have you looked into the cost? I'm not familiar with it - but it sounds like fun.

It's between $2,200 - $2,400 for the day. Up to 35 cars...but 40 is easy to manage. So anywhere from $60-$75 per car.
