I'm going to be installing my supercharger next week and I'm looking for a place to bring it after to be tuned. I live on Long Island in Deer Park. Mustang Magic, which is only 5 minutes from my house, has already refused to touch my car because it's not a Mustang and then they offered to tune it for $1500 half joking and half serious. I hate that place so much, but I've been forced to use them in the past for other things because their just so close to me. I know there is Real Speed about 25 minutes away, but I've heard many bad thing about that place. What are my options here? I'm going to PM Paul and ask him the name of the place he used, but I know his place is in New Jersey. Is that taking too much of a risk to drive to without a tune? Will most places give me a can tune for the sake of getting the car to them? I already own an Xcal2. There has to be a way to make this work. I can't be the only person on Long Island trying to supercharge a Marauder.

I wouldnt use realspeed. Not bad guys but not knolwedgable about Mercs. If I had to do it over again I would probably get the car towed to the guy that impalaslayer uses dont rember the name of the tuner.

JDM is very good but I would talk to Marty and see what he might have in mind as well.
I would trust Marty completely with anything he might suggest - he has never steered me wrong to date!

I ended up going with Real Speed out of necessity. JDM is booked until September and the guy Martyo recommended is going away on vacation for a while and he's in NJ too. I'm just going to listen closely for detonation and ask that they keep the tune conservative. I'm also going to ask them for a second tune with some timing pulled for when I travel to areas where only 91 octane is available like Carlisle. The Xcal2 is not going to be an issue. They installed a firmware update on it so it's compatible with the Xcal3 files. It's only the Xcal1 that's unusable. There giving me an emailed tune tomorrow that I can use to start the car and drive easily and my dyno appointment is a week from Monday.

You can get 93 at Carlisle. Just be aware of how he sets up his trans schedule. He don't have any clue on lockup converters and find out exactly how much timing he put into it. He likes boosting numbers by putting extra timing in but you'll have a ticking time bomb on the street. I believe 14-16 degrees would be very safe for your setup on a stock engine.

You should be running Lidio's tune (Alternative Automotive).
I've never had any problems with Lidio's tune and Fred Brown,
who just did my transmission, had no problems matching the 4R75W
to Lidio's tune.

I'm going back to him tomorrow to make a couple of adjustments to the trans schedule so I'll ask him what timing I have when I'm there. Just so I know, are higher numbers for timing advancing or retarding the timing? As far as the torque converter goes, I'm going to tell him to dissable the torque converter from locking until i'm at 50 MPH.

Higher number is advanced. If you have a Xcal3 you can data log and see what the timing is at WOT. For my tune the lock up don't come in until 58 mph like a 5th gear and it will unlock around 42 mph. I had a issue where I took my foot off the gas at 60-up and the converter would unlock instantly and then re-lock when I touched the gas. This was irritating and made the car undrivable, check to make sure that your trans isn't doing the same. I believe there is a timer involved with how long you can coast with the converter locked at highway speeds.
