Had prob with MM almost over heating. When I got home heard a bad nose From under the hood. Open the hood. The fan is the culprit. It's wobbly and making a lot of noise. How hard is it to change the fan and the shroud and is it a complete unit that has to be replaced?

I think it's a complete unit

It is a complete unit...Mine went out last year...The common occurrence is the fan shroud breaks and the fan blades begin to hit.
If you go with Ford OEM be prepared for sticker shock....I went with a Dorman aftermarket and have had no issues. Some suggest that there was a problem with Dorman's catching on fire, but Dorman is a leading aftermarket fan manufacturer and I tend to believe without empirical evidence showing a rash of fans catching on fire, that it was an aberration.
I had the assistance of Jim (fastblackmerc) and we swapped it out in 20 minutes or less. The most time consuming was re-priming the coolant.

How much could a OEM. Cost. And if I go with an after market one what's a good one to go with.

Going from memory (which ain't so great nowadays), OEM was $550+ for the shroud/motor unit. The Dorman was $217 I believe.

What was involved in that swap? I still have the entire OEM fan motor/relay assembly as only my shroud was busted. While the Dorman has served me well, I'd like to know just in case, what's involved in swapping out. Did you swap just the relay or the motor/relay?

I went with aftermarket when my fan failed 2 years ago, aftermarket only lasted less than 600 miles and failed at MV-VIII thank again to Russ for taking care of the issue, I did get a refund for the failed unit.

Entire motor swap. Takes a whole 15 minutes to swap. Remove the bolts that hold the power steering reservoir and coolant tank then remove two 8mm bolts on the sides of the fan shroud. Reach down and unplug the fan and move the bottom coolant hose out of the holder. Then work the shroud up and out. The fan and shroud are one whole unit. Reverse removal steps and you are done.

You must do PM on your vehicles. Regular oil changes, belt changes, check all fluids, etc.
If your not the original owner you should try to get the history of the vehicle... oil changes, etc.
In your other post(s) about the rear end leak we gave you alot of advise. You said you thought the rear was a quart low. A quart low in a rear end is alot low. Did you top off the fluid? If not your probably blow the rear end making the repairs that much more expensive.
The Marauder is a mechanical beast... proper care is needed.
I've had one breakdown in my MM... the motor blew at 12k. Was replaced by Ford. Haven't had a problems since.

What FBM is relaying is a absolute must on these cars! However I can relate to his problem after problem kinda. My entire life I have had at anytime 1 or 2 diff hotrods,& out of them all the 3 MM's I have owned seem to be the most continual problems occuring time & time again. With a mech item what ever it is things happen. But at the rate things happen at least on my 3 has been nothing short of ridiculous. I have owned over a handful of diff Ford vehs/Trucks that in over a 100,000-200,000 miles required nothing more then regular maintanence, havent seen to many MM's that were that way.

Well I will be getting my baby back tomorrow. They are replacing the fan with the fan shroud the hole unit. And doing a radiator flush. Only the best for her.
