View Full Version : Riding in th MM on a date SPANKED a Dodge Ram!

I had to take the MM out of moth balls because I couldn't pick up a nurse in my Escort wagon. I figured the MM would make a good first impression. Plus, if I took the Escort, it would look like the only dinner I could afford would be a happy meal split 2 ways. So I walked her to the car and she was impressed! "That thing is awesome," she said when she saw it. "Does it go?" she asked as we got on the street. I stepped it down a few times, and since I hadn't driven it for 2 months I forgot how fast it was!
We were rolling down the local street where the teen-agers cruise and some newer Ram pulled up. It was loud, like it had Brockman Mellowtone mufflers on it. The truck had the big 20" chrome wheels on it and a "hemi" sticker on the fender. It also had a huge "RAM TOUGH" decal across the windshield. Inside the truck was a teen-age kid wearing a cowboy hat. He kept goosing the truck as he passed me. Then at the light he yelled "Come on grampa" at me as he reved the engine. My date smiled at me and said, "I'd hope you can take him!" I didn't know down deep it I could. I hadn't raced the MM much and I heard how "tough" those Rams are. I had to defend myself and the MM, so when the light turned green, I crushed the gas to the floor. So did the cowboy. A loud screech of tires and exhust notes filled the air. I was impressed! The MM took off and made the cowboy look like a fool. Big smiles from my date, me, and even the cowboy as he caught up and gave me a tip of the hat. AWW YEAH. Like the dictonary says, Dodge: to avoid.

Hey Eric,
Beautiful! Thanks for the info - my co-worker just got an all wheel drive Hemi Ram pick-up and has been wanting to race. I'll feel much better about running against her now (nothing worse than loosing to a woman)!! lol.

Very cool!! Are those tire marks on College Ave? Typical wisconsin guy in a truck thinks he is fast. Come up to Green Bay and we can do the same up here.

yep, I agree.....good story, nice win, and atleast the guy was a good sport about it. Those are the kinda guys that I like to race even if I lose to them. Cuz even if they beat me, atleast they'll throw a smile back when I go by them at the next light or something to give them a thumbs up instead of getting all cocky about it.
But I always beat the Dodge ram trucks too. they're just too heavy. my brother just bought one so I looked up the specs and found that it weighs 5600 lbs!!!! That's a whopping 1400 lbs more than our cars!!!
The only Dodge truck that I ever lost to was that Dodge RT that happens to be supercharged. However it was close, and that was before the headers, and the Stallion torque converter. So I'm very ready for him this spring.

Slightly off topic for the way this thread has been "heading," but a hemi "head" is not exclusive to Mopar. Check your automotive history and lo and behold, the Dearborn guys have also used this technology. Just wanted to give everyone a "heads" up.
