I am under my car right now trying to upgrade the fuel pump. I've seem to have hit a road block. I can't figure out how to disconnect the fuel line from the pump assembly on the outside of the tank. I already removed the metal clip that was on the connection, but I can't just pull it off. I tried using the fuel line disconnect tool, but none of the sizes seem to fit the line properly. What am I doing wrong? I'm going back out side to take a picture of it and post it here right now.

Is it possible I'm just not pulling hard enough?

Stop pulling!! It is a quick disconnect but only with the right tool.
Go to your local auto parts store and get one of these!!

That's what I've been using. The metal one in this picture dosn't seem to fit just right but i found a plastic one that fits. I can push in the plastic one and I hear it click into place, then I pulled with all my strength and it didn't even budge. I also put two of the nuts holding the assembly back in so i could pull with both hands. Still nothing.

Put the tool in, push the hose towards the tool, then slide both of them off together

I just got it off! The metal tool never fit properly for some reason. I got it off with the plastic one. The plastic one however did not go all the way around, so there was still 1 clip it was missing. I removed it using the plastic tool and a flat blade screwdriver to get the 1 clip the tool could not reach. Thanks for your help. I think my main problem was the metal tool I bought was defective. I couldn't close it around the fuel line all the way even thought it was the right size. The plastic tool of the same size fit it fine. To anyone who may read this in the future, the correct size is 3/8" and don't cheep out on the tool. Buy the expensive one.
