I have the FRD03-AUX PIE adapter that gives me AUX inputs. Its served me well in 2 different MM's.
However I have an iphone now and I want to be able to charge and listen to music by just using one cable instead of headphone and dock charging cable and having wiring all over the damn dash. Add my GPS to the mix and its down right stupid.
So I purchased this.

Not this exact one but a generic to it. $11 vs $43
After I installed it the phone charged but the sound was god awful. I brought the cable inside and tried it on my home stereo receiver and it sounded fine? So is the cable the issue? I also tried it through the car without the charging wires hooked up. Same awful sound. (Like a 75' stereo trying to play eminem.)
Anyone else try one of these cables yet with their PIE interfaces?

I have the Pie adapter and it works and sounds great for my iPod and iPhone. But doesn't charge my iPhone. So I bought this power converter cable. Music from my iPhone sounds great like before but with the added benefit of charging my iPhone.

And it cost me $26 for the WIN.
Sent from my iPhone
Eaton Swap + 4.10's = Wreeeeeeeeeedom!!

You can using a PIE adapter.
I would get one that terminates in a 30 pin cable rather than the RCAs as the OP used here, just because passing through the RCAs is one more connection for another possible source of interference and loss of sound quality.
I found these folks to be very helpful when I did the same set up in my relatively newly acquired Lincoln Town Car. I lost my trunk mounted CD player but I did not care because I only used my iPod anyway.
I like this place for good deals on the PIE products. I would call them and ask what model will fit best (yes their phone support is kind of crappy but they know what works).

Or, you can call PIE tech support direct:

Oh and for the Town Car I bought a Pro Clip and like it too.

If you dont like wires every where you should try this new thing I got from the sprint store... It plugs into your AUX slot and your able to play your music and everything else through bluetooth!!! Its the best $60 I spent!!!!
Its called "Car StereoClip Aux" its about the size of flash drive and plugs right in to your Aux slot. one botton to turn it on it pairs with your device and your good to go. I am currently using a HTC EVO 4G and I LOVE THIS THING!!! No cords and the music sounds great.

The RCA PIE has been awesome and delivers a great sound. Its just to bad it won't work with the cable I got, which I'm still cratching my head as to why when on my home stereo it works fine?
