Well I had my mechanic install my new March 1158 SFI Fluid filled crank dampener today, with a new hardened $24 ARP crank bolt (90 ft pounds).
Before anyone gives me crap about not doing it myself, I have installed SW headers, brakes, lines, water pump, lower intake, rear head cooling kit and a transmission by myself on my Marauder...;)
What surprised me was that it required a 1 inch shorter belt. The shop got and installed a Dayco Poly V belt for $48 , that is 91 inches long. Stock is 92" long. Works great. All I had installed was the crank dampener - nothing else.
Anyway so far so good. The March 1158 unit is one piece has a nice black powder coat paint job on it. They say the thick fluid inside helps control vibrations at all rpms, which is why I picked it (read: better than Steeda IMHO) Didn't bump my idle yet, think I might be ok as is.
I got the Dayco 91" belt part number if anyone wants it. Can't wait to drive it some more!

Steeda comes with a bigger diameter waterpump pulley. That's the reason why you needed a shorter belt. Looks great, did you notice a smoother idle?

Very nice Babs. How much $ do one of those go for?

$133, but I'm curious why it wont work on a Mach1?

Even the March website doesn't say why!
I'm confused (that's not hard to do anymore!)

Thanks Paul - Yep, it Spools up faster for sure with little pedal effort. I figured since I already have the more efficient water pump I wouldnt need it..

Very good!
Let us know how you make out w/idle speed - if you decide to raise it or not.
Thanks again for the info!

Yep - I still don't get it.
If we wanted to go forced induction, we would have done it already!

With large diameter water pump and power brake pulleys you can use the stock belt.
