I need to remove my EGR tube but I'm having a hell of a time getting it off the manifold. It is very rusty... I've been hitting it with penatrating oil. The small bottom nut is spinning with the big upper one. Does anybody have any tips/advice that could help?

Thanks in advance!

Sometimes you need a little heat. Go buy a small acetelyne torch from the local hardware store. carefull of electric & gas lines.

I like that idea....but the car is in the middle of tear-down for Trilogy install.

Here's what I did with mine when I installed #196:

"The EGR nut is off. I couldn't get the nut off from the top. There just wasn't enough room for me to turn the wrench. So I went in through the inner fender. Second problem, the nut kept spinning on the fitting. Solution, put a 1" wrench on the fitting, and the 1 1/16" on the nut. The 1" wrench eventually will jam itself on the frame and hold the fitting so the nut comes off."

Do what Mike said. Go through the wheel. Get yourself a 26mm and 28mm box end wrench. They help too, and you'll need the little nut to re-assemble the EGR tube.

You thought off was tough, wait till you have to put he new one back on. Just did that last weekend.

if the tube and flare are turning on the pipe then take all out and use heat a lot of heat if the first isn't happening then resort to the latter good luck

Used a small rosebud on mine. Heated it up good and it came right off.. I dont think mine would have came off without heat, Good Luck!

When I installed my Trilogy I walked the EGR nut off with an air chisel from below. Use the flat chisel and put it on the edge of one flats on the nut.

Took it right off without problem.

Once my manifold was off a little heat, and it came right off.
